I don't think preamps are the answer to every situation. I always think about my chain/ source. If I have a bass I like playing with a set of pickups I like that's where it stops. However, I do use a line 6 Helix and Radial preamps as my straight-to-desk option for lots of my dep gigs. it just means I travel light. I still have the source (bass) as the constant. As many have rightly suggested the pickups, and bass preamp are your main source in the chain. The rest is just personal preference your ears and in my case convenience.

I have a thing with my daughter: she is only allowed to buy me picks for Christmas. I don't use picks much but do like to ensure I can use them when required to. So i always practise a few lines with finger and pick. She bought these this year. Have to highly recommend them. The grip is perfect for my playing and all levels of attack. I'm not wanting to spark any type of debate. Just a shout-out to a great pick.

OK, so I'm just a 'home' musician. I have a few basses, but I sort of went off bass playing a number of years ago. I lost the spark, lost the mojo.
I figured that I might get it back a year (or two?) ago by designing and building a bass. I had a thread about it somewhere but it died off towards the end (the thread not the bass!).
Well, I made the bass, never got it finished totally but it was playable. It lacked a bit of something and ended up back in the case for most of the last year. I have other instruments that I was more into.
Anyway, for reasons unknown I dug it out again yesterday, set it up properly and it just clicked! I have had great fun playing it the past 2 days!
All good, but ..... I have the urge to stain the body, so it's literally all in pieces again now! Hopefully I can get it all sorted whilst I am still high on interest.
That is all.
Glad you have found space for the bass. Pictures would help us Gee you along

Selling this as a new 64 Black Panel. Incredible piece of engineering. It has been on my board once and I prefer my Radial Bass Bone OD. So back in the box it went and it's been sitting there ever since. This is modelled from the Fender Bass and Showman rigs. No marks or scratches at all ( see pictures) There a great review here
Happy to meet up if that's easier close to Birmingham

Hello.
For sale this wonderful Phil Jones Double 4, 70w amp. A wonderful piece of equipment with a lovely sound. I've only ever used it as a practice amp. I tend to use my Helix and headphones for practice, so not getting any use. Fully working and ready to go to a good home.
Happy to discuss postage or meet up close to Birmingham
Take Care

I'll use them all. I learnt classical guitar as a kid and when I moved to bass the fingering was very similar so I've never changed my approach. My index and ring finger are the same length so if I'm just using 2 fingers I tend to use 1 & 3 as I don't need to angle my hand. I'm not sure it really matters in the big picture. No one has ever commented. I do love a Billy Sheehan gallop though.

He's an incredible player. If this is his authentic self and expression then good for him.

Yeah, agree, too trivial, I would rather have had him doing something like this:

Incredible bass. I viewed it more times than I should. I'm re-traumatising myself with every click. Just stunning!

IMHO. Greatest fretless bass I’ve ever played. If I had the dollar I’d take this in a heartbeat.

The picture of that bass with the Trace amp behind has made my heart flutter!

It would be great if some of the tuner manufacturers would consider the locking heads as used in some guitars. It would make changing strings a little less boring.
I'd also like an AI bass that recognised I didn't know what I was doing and produced really good bass lines by controlling my fingers.
A bass that made me look slim all the time
A bass that I can program the set list into and it laughs as I try to play it

From a retailer
Responsibility is completely on them. They have to provide like for like or they foot the bill for the difference. I ask for a full refund personally. Tell them you'll name and shame them on Bass Chat

It’s a Schecter sls evil twin. They said they couldn’t replace it. Not sure why, maybe they just don’t deal with Schecter anymore. It was cheaper than other places by 50-70 quid. Wasn’t labelled as b-grade or anything either.
did you buy it direct or from a retailer?
