1.
Is that how you usually have your EQ set. just wondered how it sounded like that.
Well I've only just got the Trace so I'm still fiddling with the EQ. Next month it'll probably be different.

I like a lot of mids to my sounds. A bit John Entwistle/Geddy Lee. It cuts through the mix better and I don't sound like every other bassist.

I also use an Ashdown Overdrive pedal. I normally set the overdrive quite low, but again it helps it cut through and it sounds more aggressive and raw. Which is how I like it.

Like I say, I'm still just fiddling and I'm not entirely happy with it. I can try and record some sound clips for you if you like?

  2. I think the most reason most people think Marshall are crap with bass amps is because they're more well known for guitar amps.

I think a lot of it is gear snobbery as well. They don't want the same as all the guitarists out there, they want everyone to know they're the bass player.

I just purchased a VBC412 Cab off Thumperbob on here and it's great. Speak to him about Marshall bass stuff.

    Thanks

I've got a Fender Rumble 100. Had it for about three or four years now.
For the money I'd say it's a decent amp. Produces nice lows as you'd expect from the 15" speaker and the highs it produces are good as well.

Only downsidewould be the weight. I think it's made of lead and it only has a handle on the top. I've been meaning to put some castors on it.

    You looking to buy one?

  4.
I've obviously got a lot to learn. Always tended to just listen to what sounds good with any given chord - probably need to do a bit more work!
Me too.
I've got a bass theory book which I'm starting to go through to try and learn some scales and stuff. But other than that... If it sounds good then use it.

  5. Are they any good.

I've found one for sale on eBay and I'm hugely tempted by it.

Has anybody used these before and what are peoples opinions on them?

    Thanks in advance.
