1. I am a late fourties musician who has been a member here for a while but probably due to my age find it hard to understand the abreviations. For instanace PM'd, presumably means private mail???? What the hell does BUMP mean, I really can't work that one out! Any other abreviations that someone can explain would be really helfull and would make an old man very happy instead of a happy man very old!! Ta John
2. Will add better pictures when I can get outside in the day light without getting blown away.
3. I have for sale my spare Jon Shuker 5 string bass. I already have a Shuker 5 string thru-neck which I use all of the time and I cannot justify keeping this one sat at home collecting dust, plus all my other basses and amps (most of which you will see for sale shortly) Anyway, back to this bass, as I said its a 5 string bolt-on neck with Seymour Duncan Basslines pickups and 18v electronics and it plays like a dream. I am looking for £900 ono and would be prepared to meet any buyer between my home (Bristol) and their home town, within reason. The full spec is as follows: Neck 34 " scale 24 frets maple/wenge laminated neck two way truss rod carbon fibre reinforcement matching head veneer birdseye maple board Jumbo frets Black side dots Black face dots Body Swamp Ash body Mallee burr drop top Polyester basecoat Wet look gloss topcoat Pickups Seymour Duncan alnico MM pickup Seymour Duncan 5 string J pickup hot Electronics Shuker custom 18v electronics Hardware Gotoh GB707 tuners Individual bridge units All black hardware This is an absolutely clean bass that could be in you hands before Christmas. The pictures are not brilliant as they were taken indoor in bad light but if you mail me I will send anyone that wants them some better ones which I will take in the daylight John

5.
um.. Jon can order them directly. Failing that Paul_C *I think* had a contact, but I'm not sure if Paul is still 'dealing' in bits.
Got one from Mike Walsh at BM, arrives tomorrow.
6. Ooops.................Sorry I meant EMG 40P5
7. Anyone know where I can get an EMS 40P5, no one seems to have any in stock?
8. This 2 band Musicman Stingray is in full working order and has been used regularily in the studio or live almost every day up to 6 months ago when I moved to 5 string and basically is not being used. I have 6 basses and something has to go so its the Stingray. The body has some dings on it which you would expect from a 17/18 year old bass, and the neck is laquered although it is well worn and most of it has worn off or down, which I feel makes it play better. The serial number is 29485 which dates the bass somewhere between 1989/90 although it is unclear what the actual date is. I have taken some pictures and tried to show all of the marks but if anyone wants any more or would like to try the bass let me know and I will try to arrange something. They say that guitars sound better by age and this is certainly true with this one, deep, rich and with tons of punch, the sound is typical stingray..............................what more can I say? All on the bass, as far as I know, is original except the scratchplate which was changed a few years ago. I am asking a fair £850 and am willing to be flexible with delivery, unless you live in Australia or the likes!!!
9. Thankyou all for your input. Have asked Jon to order EMG's, one off each of the DC and CS, I figure that if I'm still not happy with the sound I can use the quick release facility and change them around or even try the P5 as per Dood's suggestion without travelling up to Sheffield each time.
10. Yeah, Jon mentioned about these to me recently but unfortunately they wont fit in this bass............................................perhaps I should have another one made!!!!!!!!!!
11. Thanks for your inputs and lots to think about. Best get back to Jon as he was getting some ASB2's in incase I went down that route.
12. Thanks for that, trying to get other opinions though
13. I need help............... I have 5 string thru neck shuker bass which is gorgeous however the EMG passive HZ's that are on there make it sound very thin and I am after a nice warm fat sound with loads of punch, therefore have decided to go with active pichups and are now looking at either active EMG's or Seymour Duncan Basslines. Both will fit nicely into the bass, the issue is not knowing how they are going to sound. My options are: Option One 2 x Basslines ASB2-5 Option Two 1 x EMG 40CS (Bridge) 1 x EMG 40DC (Neck) Option Three 2 x EMG 40 DC Has anyone out there got any experience with this? All this chopping and changing around is getting expensive so any opinions from you guys would be gratfully received. Ta John
