It really is amazing how these things go. i actually had a USA Lakland JO which had the best neck i ever played and sold it as i didn't 'love' it.. makes no sense, but it is what it is. The Moon is giving me a buzz in these early days of owning it. Not sure I got that from the Lakland.
I'll measure the depth of the neck at the 1st fret later. My 'Bat' description is really about the roundness and depth of the C profile. It's why the guy i got it from sold it!

Maybe @jay-syncro can chime in. A newer JB4 might have a different profile altogether

That's interesting, my Moon has a typical slender jazz style neck. And it only weighs 8lbs! Pretty crazy considering the body is made of white ash.

Jay you notice any difference between the slanted neck pickup to the JJ. ?

Not really mate. I usually anchor my thumb over the neck pickup and prefer it to be parallel for ergonomics. The slanted version does look good though!

  3. I've owned several Moon jazz basses and they are my favourite FSO. My current one is a 70's style JB4 with an ebony fretboard and a dark burgandy nitro finish. It's immense and really nails that 70's Jazz tone. It does differ from a 70's Fender in a coupe of ways, it's lightweight and well built! 😁

It's looking a bit more Road worn these days, but it looked like this when new.

  4. I've had a flurry of trade offers on this bass today so I thought I'd share my response on the thread. IMO I have this listed at a very good price for such a high-end, custom UK made bass in practically as-new condition. I may entertain trade offers if they contain some cash my way, but they'd have to be very tempting offers as I'd ideally like a straight sale 👍

Absolutely beautiful - I only play short-scale now but what a stunner. Apologies, I’m on a phone - is this a satin body with gloss neck or all satin? Also, how old is the bass - it looks immaculate and possibly brand new?

It's the Overwater satin lacquer all over. A beautiful and tactile finish.

Thanks for all the comments, guys 👍

  6. My last attempt at selling a bass here before they go on commission sale in a week or two.

I recieved this bass in a trade recently and it is absolutely stunning. Overwater make some incredible instruments but they can be on the weighty side. This one however is just 7.9lbs! It's a Custom 33" scale Progress 4 with a figured Walnut top, Swamp Ash body, Wenge/Maple 5 piece neck with the extended bolt-on neck joint, Rosewood fingerboard, MOP front and side dots and the wonderful Overwater 3 band EQ and pickups. It's in fantastic condition, has a new set of D'Addario strings, and it includes the Overwater branded Hiscox case.

Collection from Margate or I can package the bass well if you'd like to arrange a courier.

These are over £4000 new from Overwater so grab a bargain!

  8.

    Now £595.

Gorgeous Charvel San Dimas Pro-mod bass in absolutely as-new condition complete with hang tags and tuner prophylactics!

This bass has an absolutely stunning roasted maple neck that plays itself, a lovely looking mahogany body and a set of classic Dimarzio PJ pickups. It's worth noting that the early versions of this bass had some electronic issues but they have rectified this with later models, this one included. The preamp is silent in operation and is really musical sounding. The bass reminds of a Spector tonally 👌🏻

Collection from Margate or I can post as I have the original packaging.

Note: It does not come with a case.

Not yet, but the trigger will be pulled sometime today/tomorrow, as according to the wife, I either use it or lose it.

I'm after a 60's style Jazz and have my eyes on @jay-syncro Sadowsky, Richtone's American Vintage II and BassBro's 60th Anniversary.

Although I would be equally happy with Jays KSD Jazz and have enough cash to buy other shiny things to play with.

I suspect the final decision will be when the boss puts her foot down and if she wants whatever I don't spend back.

I'll do you a deal if you'd like both 😁
