1. Might have been impressed if;

1. It was 1984-90 instead of 2008
2.If the rhythm/timing was better
3.If there wasn't a zillion people doing that stuff on you tube
4.If it didn't bring back memories of me playing/trying to play like that in the 80's with a bit of a mullet hairstyle goin on :)

I couldn't watch much of it ,but At least he didn't start doing a "Tap-athon" (or did he?)

2. It's a great bass but i can't get along with the Status neck profile.
It has the piezo pick up with an active pre-amp,which gives some interesting sounds and has loads of bite when needetHE the piezo is good for experimenting with different strings ,flatwounds you get an old skool funk type soundS and more retro/upright with tape wounds.
Is mint apart from one very small mark on front ,which is probably smaller than a pin head.
Only got the 1 pic off my phone at moment will get some more up .

Quite rare in 5 string ,i'm looking for £580 now if anyone's interested.

Thanks
Pete

3. If you're using them for recording etc. you want closed, mainly cos they shut out outside stuff better and are more comfortable to wear for long periods.
I've had Sennheiser hd 25s for about 7-8 years now and they're excellent as well as being completely modular (you can even buy just the ear cushions) More expensive but good quality long lasting and very robust.price varies though from £110 ish to £170 ish so shop around if you go for them.
Hi all

Probably a stupid question, but I was hoping someone could explain to me the difference (benefit or otherwise) of closed versus open headphones. Also appreciated would be any recommendations for <£30 headphones that suit that down low vibe : )

Cheers
4.
UK Subs-Warhead
SNAP!!! :-)
And there was me thinking i'd be the only one who'd know that song!!
My version was played on a semi-acoustic guitar with the strings tuned down
though!(and was really awful!!)
When i got my 1st "proper" bass,it was also a Kay ,single cutaway on which i
learned a Siouxsie and the banshees track 1st then yes stuff.(an it was painful!)

5. The Wal now lives in Sweden, the guy purchased another 5 from me while he was over here in the summer and had that one with him.
Nice bass.

"Ok I have sold this one now, bought second hand and sold to a low profile member on the old Bassworld, who I think has quite a WAL collection. This was to get a 'proper 5' and to allow me to play synthbass lines (it was a Midi) but the project never came off and tbh the bass never seemed right for me as it seemed to have a few mild dead spots - possibly due to the hollowed out fretboard. Unusually for a Wal it had an unfaced maple body - wonder where she is now? Seen here with all the interface units."

6. How about you get picked with someone then you have to go and find and listen to/buy/get hold of the last 5 tracks/ 5 different artists tracks that the person you are matched with bought? An review them!....
or does that idea suck?
I'm sorry guys, but this is really not a good idea. If basschat is seen as somewhere people openly arrange to exchange illegally copied CDs to each other as is being suggested it might attract unwanted attention and potentially cause trouble for the site owners.

It would be better for people to send in their own original tracks for which they own the copyright.

jus' sayin'
7. you dont need to sack it off cos of my question,i was just wondering about the implications, that's all.
I dont know anything about copyright stuff . If it not being for commercial gain is a factor fine but could it not also be construed as commercial loss by whoever?

8. Hey thats a nice bass,They made a few of those (with the music man type control plate/1 p/up)but they were usually sunburst so is fairly rare. Is the core wood ash?
Selling a 5 Wal string at the moment need to put it up here.

9. "New battery in the bass. The power amp by it's self.
The only thing I haven't tried is the pre amp with a different power amp, I don't have access to one"

Surely if you tried the power amp on it's own and the problem was still there then it must be the power amp??
I have an rpm-1 pre myself never had no probs with it.
Also if the fault WAS with the pre , then you wouldn't have to wait for someone to let you use their power amp ,you could try it thru anything and the fault would be heard? Even if you made up a mono to stereo connector (out of the full range) output into headphones or just a line out into a mixer or whatever ?

10.
oooooh look at da purdy lights!

I'm not lookin for mega amounts of money not sure of it's value still,so will take a reasonable offer.(sorry thats not much help!)
I'm thinking that maybe it's what it's worth is to someone that determines it's value so a reasonable offer will do.I mean would 600ish be about right?Honestly dont know if is worth more or less sorry.

13. Hi There
Reluctantly selling my old bass,is carved spruce top, flat back, estimated at 100-120 years old and german.
Not sure of fingerboard wood is not ebony possibly either maple or beech,i've been told(is same as neck by looks of it)
Has had a few repairs over the years the last being in 1960 that i know of to the neck.
Is very sturdy has a ,holds tune well,is set up more for bowing
at the moment, can include a re haired unused bow too.
The bass has a nice tone,a member from here came down and played it with a bow and it sounded nice(well at least until i tried bowing!)Would make a good 1st bass or maybe if someone wanted to restore to peak condition
Open to reasonable offers in the NW. area/N.wales
I put a thread up about this at the Ken Smith double bass forum, there's a few pics and info there and a link to some more pics

Have been told is 3/4 size not full as i thought originally. Scale is 42inch (nut to bridge)
Great tone on this bowed or fingerstyle, someone could have a bargain here!!!
