1. Coop, would you able to do me a massive favor Hector? Can you please try it in an amp with the fishman and with out and let me know the differences? Thanks. Pete
 2.
Sure, it seems to. The EQ allows you to adjust your tone, but I tend not to use it too much. The unit provides a hot enough signal for my uses: on doubling gigs, I use my upright through the fishman into the effects return of my amp, and then my electric into the regular input - a combination of the gain and volume controls on the preamp allows me to bring the acoustic up to a similar level with the electric, and then I can switch quickly just by pulling one cable out and popping another in. Minimum fuss! As already mentioned by Jake, the phase switch is really useful, but my personal favourite aspect is the depth knob - my bass can get a little boomy in some rooms, and having an adjustable HPF helps combat that flexibly. It doesn't have lots of bells and whistles like some other pres, but it's got everything I want and it fits in my gig bag.
so does it cut through drums and stuff like that? just worried about it being the right buy. there is a definate boost in volume then? anything you can say about it? thanks
 3.
Another vote for the plat. pro! I love mine and never gig without it.
cool, so does it add a great deal of volume? whats the tone like? the prob im having it finding one that has a great volume boost and great tone.

 10. Well... p-bass (september 2005 - december 2005) Was my first bass bought for my by dad off of a mate in work. I didnt have it long, and i wish i knew what it was, all i knew was that it was a p-bass shape, could been some gem, but ill never know. Ibanez xj90 (dec 05 - oct 06 Walked in to a shop and it had pretty colours and 24 frets, so Santa bought me it that year. I part ex it though for my steping stone. Peavey Grind-6 (oct 06 - may 08) My first 6 string bass, and ive been hooked ever since on extended range basses. Didnt even know at the time it was a 35" scale XD but i used it through out most of my collage course. Gavaston 8-string (may 08 - dec 10) My 8 string MONSTER 26 freted 12kg beast! I loved it! I bought it for fun, but found my self never using the peavey so sold it and just used the 8 string! But at the end 2010 i sold her to get somthing smaller and it just became to much. Reeeeeeally with i just detuned her, wrapped her up and put her under my bed, i even giggd it all up and down the west coast of australia. Weststone Tunder llA (jan 11 - march 11) This was a bass i borrowed off of a mate. Didnt really like it, but it was a bass for a bit. Ibanez SR 886 (march 11 - oct 11) This bass was given to me because it didnt work. I replaced the jack input and it worked great! Was also going to lead ne on to my next 6 string. Ibanez SR506 (june 11 - still own) This is now my main. Gigging bass, what a beast! Blade teltra standard (march 11 - still own) The nicest 4 string i have ever played, i only use for teaching though these days. 1989 jap Fender Jazz fretless (oct 11 - still own) Sitts on s wall mount in the living room mostly but offrn come wiyh me to jam and open mic nights. Hudson pro series double bass (sep 11 - still own) Love it, gig it often. Bought it when i started uni. Just wanted to make my self more employable and to see if i got on with it. Now play it every day. Music man bongo 6 (will have one soon!) Been eyeing one up. Who knows. We was fun to list them and see what i have had and when. Was a great little trip down memory lane! Cheers all! Peter Cullen Bsssist
 11. Thanks for that, yeah didnt look to commfy to sit down with, but that dont really bother me, and like you said all 6 strings have a waight to them, i use to play an 8 string monstar for 2 years and that qas just under 12kg! So my 6 string atm feels great and i wouldbt even feel a guitar there back when i played the 8 string. Thanks again.

 13. Hey guys, in the last year i have been busy as hell with work in the studio and gigging. So was thinking of getting a music Man Bongo 6, im using a Ibanez SR506 atm. The bongo is alot of money and will be selling my ibanez to help fund/replace. But can it be justifyed paying around £1700 on a Bass? I have never played a bongo of heard one before so dont know what they are like. What are they like? Are you buying more than just a name? How does it compere? Whats your expereance with one? Good and bad. Anyyhing about them would be geart. If the report is good then ill be buying one from the USA and having it shiped. So just really want to br sure. Thanks all Peter Cullen Bassist

 15. Hey all, my name is Peter Cullen I am here to offer my services as a Bass Tutor/Teacher. I have lots of experience teaching private and being the bass tutor in Secondary Schools. I have been studying music for the last 5 years and did my Grade 8 after just 2 years of playing. I teach 4 string bass, 5 string bass, 6 string bass, fretless bass and double bass. The way I teach: with each student I keep a record of what we have done in each lesson so that you, your parents or whoever you want really and me know what you have done and how you are getting on. I also make my own work sheets (if you can call it work!) and hand outs of what we have done so you can keep up what we were doing in the lessons out of lessons, this is something I feel is necessary as alot can be achieved in an hour and it can be a lot to remember, especially if you are starting out. Prices start at 15 pound per hour and I come to you. (First lesson is FREE) Block book 10 lessons for just 90 pound! Call me on 07985642553 or email me at [email protected] Thanks and I look forward to hearing form you Peter Cullen Bassist

 17. having a 8x10 fall on me during a bass solo, stood on the lead!
 18.
Got an archer as well and very happy with it. Spent £300 notes on a good setup, including some Honeys, bridge lower and light fret skim. Action still quite high for Jazz but I also bow and it is a great compromise. The only thing to remember is the thing is built to a price so the finish is mass produced hand made (if you get my drift).
you know becouse it doesnt have a Ebony fingerboard, do you find the black comes off the fingerboard? i have a double bass that doesnt have a ,ebony fingerboard and i find that the black comes off on my hand.
 19.
Has anybody got any good exercises to getting to grips with the cycle?
a way you can look at it is what I call "dot to dot" start by starting on C (3rd fret) on the A string, then go down a string to G (1 sharp) then go up 2 frets and 1 string to D (2 sharps) then down a string to A (3 sharps) continue this same finger patten until F Sharp (6 sharps) you just go Dot to Dot on the fret board. (I dont see the point of C# since Db is the same sounding but easier on the mind because Db has 5 flats and C# has 7 sharps) for the flats you avoid the Dots starting on C on the E string, and instead of going up 2 frets, you go down. if anyone doesnt get it for what ever reason, i could make a clip if you like. BUT... heres something to think about, when i was in school when i was 10, every friday, we were all given 20 words to learn over the weekend, then we were tested on then on monday. so... there are only 14 key signatures, so just learn them, then making sense of them is alot easier! Pete x
