The last time I went to a gig with one bass the A string broke on the first song. Never happened before or since. But I took spare from then on.

That looks amazing, any chance of more pic's? And what's it like for neck dive?
Pics as requested. I'm not the best at photography though I'm afraid. It's hard to capture the sparkle in stills.
No neck dive. Tiny headstock and lightweight tuners. I was thinking about moving the strap button to the top horn as a personal preference but it seems to work well where it is for me at the moment.

Did they only do stuff that the original line-up released?
Any on-stage references to any falling-outs etc?
And how was it in general?
All the first album and half of the second
They didn’t go over the falling out. Just motored through the set. Not a lot of banter. Very good natured gig. Loved it

After years of big 1.0mm Clayton Triangles I’ve switched to green Dunlop 0.88 standard jobbies. Can’t say my playing has improved but they feel more comfortable. I don’t like finger style playing. Feels weird. So the right pick is important.

My cousin Gary taught me the rudiments of playing on his 40/40 in 1978.
He also had the equivalent 30/30 guitar he used in his pub band. Both were in natural finish.I’ve always had a soft spot for Haymans and Shergolds. Bought a black Marathon in ‘79 as my first ‘proper’ bass.

As a spotty punk Herbert in the late 70s I like everyone else wanted a Precision.
A fairly low output pickup, fresh Rotosound cheese graters, a big triangular pick and a trebly clapped out amp on the edge.
That should do it.

Now I’m a committed Fenlander. Any recommendations in the Spalding - Kings Lynn vicinity?

Wow, that totally changes the look. Might look at one of those for mine too.
Being of a somewhat lazy disposition today, any chance of a product link @Low End Bee?

Thanks - will investigate, although those pickups look a lot bigger than the ones on the classic vibe, or maybe it is an optical illusion
I’m not sure. I think the plate is CIJ size so should fit

I put flats on it yesterday. Considering I don't play 4 string basses, and I don't like flats, I am enjoying this a surprisingly large amount, its really good (a bit buzzy in my living room) although the pickup is a bit microphonic.
So where can you get a perloid scratchplate for this? I have looked around, can't find anything.
I could just get the material and make something, but it would probably be bad if I did.
I know there are custom places, but it seems that this would be a normal thing?
I got a scratch plate for the JMJ

I used the Wattplower at a rehearsal for the first time last week.
Blimey. It’s a good bass. Cut through and sounded better than anything I’ve played before. Those pickups are HOT and there’s loads of great sounds on tap.
Super sparkliness is a bonus.
