3. Hello Bass playing community, Currently looking for a double bass bow, nothing fancy purely for functional practice needs. If anyone is selling/knows someone selling could you please message me on here and we can "cut a deal" with our cigars and trench coats on. Come on, "make me an offer I can't refuse". Much love Bass Player #543
4. Recently went to a shop looking to try new basses came to a new (2010) Gewa, they werent 100% on wether it was solid throughout or a hybrid with spruce top but they were leaning towards hybrid. Has anyone owned a gewa? if so can you give me your opinion on the basses.
5.
Well, This one is the very one I bought from thisnameistaken in 2008 for 50 quid posted which was a great deal and I thank you for that. The main man here got it as a sweetener for swapping basses with me. Considering that a couple went the last few weeks for 45-60.... maybe its a bit on the high side. In fact I would buy it back for 50, now that I can afford this kind of scheisse.
I'd sell it back to you for 50 too if you are interested
6.
Is the idea the start high and let people barter you down? It'll be a long bartering session - they usually go for half that used on eBay. [/quot Yep, dyou want to make an offer for it?
7. From what Ive seen its the same price as what they are new. Yeh pictures are on the way...
8. Hi, Im selling all my pedals as I dont need them as much anymore and am trying to raise money for a better double bass. All are in really good condition and very solid. I live in Birmingham and youre more than welcome to come try them out if you want Im looking for: Q-Tron = £120 O.N.O Auto-Q = £100 O.N.O Boss = £30 O.N.O Just PM me if youre interested Matt
9. Hi, I'm selling my Fender Japanese P-Bass to raise money towards a better double bass as this is now my main instrument. Its an early 90's Jap (literally 1990 I think) with an added J pick-up. Pick-ups are active EMG's and it has flatwounds on it at the moment so it has a real warm rounded sound to it. Rosewood fingerboard with maple neck. Solid instrument although it does have a couple of knocks around the body; these were there when I bought it but the sound was gd enough not to put me off. I'm looking for £600 O.N.O and am in Birmingham but would be willing to catch a train (within reason) if you cant make it here. Pictures to follow. Matt
10. The Crybaby has now gone but the Auto-Q is still available.
11. Hello! I am need of some money and have no use anymore for my Crybaby or my auto-Q, so I have decided to sell them. New, the Crybaby averages out to be going for in between £99 - £110 and the Auto-Q £120 - £130. I'm selling the Crybaby for £50, its in good working condition but is missing a couple of the black rubber feet that go on it but I'm sure this is easy to replace. I'm selling the Auto-Q for £100 o.n.o as it is practically like new bar a little dust on the knobs. Both pedals are built solid and sound very good. Message me if you're interested, can't put photos up tonight but I will do hopefully by tomorrow evening. If there isnt any interest I'll just put them up on ebay. Matt
12. Hey, I was wandering if anyone knows of any amateur Big Bands or Musical companies based in or around Birminngham that I could join to help improve my sight reading abilities in a more of a "sink or swim" enviroment and get some good gig experience in the process? Thanks
13. ...what was expected of you and was it worth your while?
14. So its come time for me to change my double bass strings, Im a student and this is the the first set I'm buying and I'm just wandering if anyone could tell me the difference in the types of strings you can get, for example, differences between gut strings and any others you can get. I was talking to a bass player about a month ago who said he liked to use velvet strings as they allowed him to get bite on the string were a little bit looser and offered a bit more warmth tonally. I'm a jazz player and I like the tone of Paul Chambers alot and also Larry Grenadier. Any words of wisdom welcome! Matt
15. Does anyone have a cheap DB bow that they would be willing to sell me? Hopefully not looking at anything more than £50. Thanks Matt

18.
Cheers man, Other work includes sessions for another house producer, my own stuff, and some gigs, which has gone quiet now. What do I think about? Feel, root notes, simplicity, fluidity, groove, the vocal, and FUNK. Cheers!
How d'you set yourself up with that gig then?
