  1. Hi guys,

as my refinisher of choice had health problems and isn`t able to refinish my P bass, i am looking for alternatives.

My 73 P bass has been stripped to natural long time ago and my wish was to refinish the bass in sonic blue.
Important for me or better the assumption would be, that the colour and finish is as original as possible.

Are there recommendations from your side, so that i could find the right person to do the job?
A roundabout price, if you have an idea, would be great as well.
Thanks in advance for your kind help.

  2. GustOo, thank you very much for your explanation :)
Another secret oil for cleaning, reviving colours and 'wellness' is Viol.
    Neck as well as body.

Have you lifted the scratchplate? There was a Fender bass on eBay recently that had half of its body weight removed by a hole saw. You would never have known unless you took the pickguard off.

You would never have known, because the person who did this, was killed by a group of assasins that came out of the dark, called... the leominati

  4. There is no 'rule' for that i think, but if you want to create one, here is my experience.
The tele made of ash is mostly heavier than alder, but this depends on what kind of ash is used.
The 60s p i have held and own are really light, as well as the earlie 70 ones.
Following the timeline in the 70s the basses get more heavy, but as i said before, there is no asolute rule about that.
Against the myth, that a bass that weighs a ton has also a tone of a ton is not right.
The best sounding basses i have heard are the light ones, They are more resonant.
But to make my words senseless, i have heard also amazing basses which seem to be made of ironwood

  5. What a nice guy Gary is!

I was looking for an ampeg basshanger in europe but didn't find a dealer only in US.
But, uke started to contact me after my wtb thread and send me his basshanger..
Now the story gets remarkable..he sent the basshanger as a present to me!

Gary, you made me very happy with this gesture.
You are a really nice and kind person, thank you very very much!
I absolutely recommend uke and would trust him blindly

  6. John, you are one hero of the bassketer bass story!
With no gain for yourself you let a desperate situation for me end with a happy end.
You made it happen, that after a person tried to fool me, i received that bass out of your hands.
You a re farely more than a moderator, you are a top bloke.

    Chapeau to you John!
Mess with one, you mess with all..you live that!
Thank you very much for getting the bass for me, for annoying and displeasing moments in my name.
    I will never forget this.
