1.
Nope! This guy: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showuser=5117

He was replying to something bumfrog said earlier :)
LOL Ok miss terminology.
Bumfrog is a term I've heard used for "Mister everybody" where I live.

Still. I do stand by my Squier quote lol!
I can see Warwick upsetting people maybe...not there there SHOULD be but...Well Money talks and with sales I doubt they'll U-turn.

Fender have had cheaper ranges bearing the same name no problemo...WHy should any other company?

2.
I'm sure that all the Fender USA owners would love it if the Squier brand was rebadged as
Fender, or Gibson buyers if Epiphones suddenly came out with Gibson logos.

I wonder what Bumfrog plays?
Or if it matters...
Who's bumfrog? Every working class man that cannot affor £3000 for a 4-string bass that does nothing better than his Squier?
The people that are happy playing and make stuff happen?

And a history lesson...Squiers WERE Fender once.
Used to have a BIG FAT FENDER on them...And on the end of the headstock tiny tiny writing saying "Squier series".
To be fair, some of the modern day Squiers are just as good (if not better) than most MIA Fenders. And that's the sound, build quality, everything. Brand snobs are why they don't sell more.
+1 and Squier are getting better and better.

I have, and still do, own some high end basses.
I have admited here somewhere selling a MIA Peavey Cirrus 6 in favour of my Ibanez BTB556MP...Yes I did...because it felt better!

3.
No probs, they do turn up every now and then, you might get some luck up your way. It's a bugger, my mum lives in Loughborough but I won't be able to get up there for a while with work and finances etc.

Thanks for the bump!

Colin
Yeah and I need a (bass) head too...I have posted to another after I let you know because I really need one, being honest.
But if I coulda got to this I would have...2 channels is a great feature and last night at rehearsal, borrowing equipment again (doh) I used a 200 watt Trace Elliot (my fav!) that blew the Drop-B guitars appart so I am now educated that low Wattage does not mean low volume.

4. Just like to say thanks for understanding I cannot make it to Surrey.
I was, and always am, genuine when I say I'm going to buy something so thank you for being polite.

Anyways, this head is a steal folks...Buy it now it's ancient!
I unfortunatly cannot.

It does Bi-Amping, 2 channels etc...Any metal fan would want it.
Think of that 2 channel fun you could have!

5.
I'm hoping they tour over here too. I saw them on their first two tours in the UK a LONG time ago & they were absolutely superb. Paul Gilbert is easily my favorite shred guitarist and, along with Billy Sheehan, he's one of the nicest people you could meet. His hearing is TOTALLY f***ed though. If you see him on his solo gigs he wears great big industrial ear protectors to try & save what's left of it.
If your on about Gilbert didn't he always wear those?
I thought they were a fashion thing or some kind of HUGE in ear monitoring.

Never seen Sheehan wear em so you must be.

6. My 5-string was tuned:

G# C# F# B E

and my 6-string once tuned:

F# B E A D G

5-string guage was:

145 - 110 - 95 - 75 - 55

and 6-string guage was:

190 - 130 - 100 - 80 - 65 -45

Was good fun but a pain in the backside.
Basses just ain't as responsive to this as guitars are and your higher frets yield HUGE deadspots or are completely toneless.

Still, Drop-B or C# standard or whatever eare is fine.
But do bassists really need "Drop" tuning?
As we don't barre power chords it's really better standard surely?

7.
I've been into music for a long time :)
first band i went to see were Kiss when i was 7..
and then.. its all went downhill from there  haha

P.S Back from camping..woop  lol
Ah good good, You went!
How'd it go?

p.s. Maybe it's time to leave this thread alone and move to PM?

8.
Thunderbird.

I'm also a fan of the look of the Traban Basses with the "bigger bridge" where it takes on much the same aesthetic features as a scratch plate, particularly the Phoenix and the Tribal Sun designs.
The Array is nice too...Smaller than the others but still the same.

9.
Hey, hate to but in on your conversation, but you two are both too young to know all that stuff.
Lol really? I think music and inspiration has no age limit.
I started out playing Iron Maiden and was brought up on my dads records before finding modern metal.

10.
Retro but functional. Having two channels is a hoot. You can even overdrive one and blend the master on it in to grunge it up a bit. I had it set up for a fretless and a five string and one click on the footswitch and the sound is changed.

C. :)
Any chance this won't sell by the weekend?
I'm waving petrol money at my dad so we can come down in the weekend.
I'm thinking of going 2 outputs on my bass and Bi-Amping would be awesome. Even if I can't use it in the band it'll be awesome to try at least.

Only need a small ponder but I'm pretty much sure I fancy a go with this.

edit: Actually after reading about how it blows your band appart I think I'll give this a go.
I'll wave the petrol money and I'll be down to grab it.
£100 you say? Cool!

11. That's a HUGE retro head...HUGE!!!
It's true Peavey ain't too hot these days.
Only £100 huh? I'm looking for a new head and cab but I don't think this has enough guts for my band...LOVE that retro vibe though.
But going through 8ohms...It's gonna be reduced to little power...
*sigh* and I could Bi-amp with it too...

12.
sounds good :)

Checked the new Mr. Big vid?
It's beeb posted here somewhere.

13.
As a mate of mine in the car industry who was giving Skodas credit....he described them as "Audi A6 in M&S clothes". It's equally the same with basses.

I've heard some expensive ones that just don't do it for me, and some cheap ones that really do.

Like you said, each to their own.
Yeah...I'll likely be shot by saying that I got rid of my Peavey Cirrus 6-string after playing my BTB556...LOL!
(Dodges bullets).

14. My BTB405QM has developped a HUGE deapspot on the 9th fret and above in areas...
The sustain is so bad it's almost instant decay. Strings have been changed many times, different guages and materials.
Frets have never been a problem, it's not fretting out it's just...goes "Duff" in said area.
My BTB556MP however still sustains forever.

Any ideas?

15.
Back off. . .

Older - Yes (so am I)
Money - I'm sure, it is their job after all
Good ol' days - are back thank you !
+1 on that!

I'm well into my modern Metal and such but you just gotta hand it to these guys.
Sheehan's old enough to be my Grandad sorta...I still think he's ultimatly cool.
Shame he's only known for being fast...he's so much more.
Check out Niacin.

Not to upset folks but...I personally think Metallica have actually lost it.
There's plethora of bands that do Thrash metal more interesting...Hardly anybody does music like Mr. Big nowerdays.
I can hear that HUGE reverb snare already.
No I didnt mean it as a bad thing..its just now Its BACK....Bring on the shred!!!

Billy IS one of the most nicest people Ive ever had the experience in dealing with, always answers questions, and is generally ..well..brilliant.... :)
That's what I'm getting at...I've been into Shred properly since 2004 when it returned.
Maybe scene are different in different cities but Shred got so big here some folks are wishing to wave it goodbye already lol!

I don't see what's wrong...It's another weapon in you armory right?

Maybe this will bring it RIGHT back into the fore front...Mmmm I'd love to hear real instrument talent on the radio instead of that Akon fool.

16.
Make it yourself out of some of your own furniture! :)

I'm kidding.
Warwick Red Special? LOL!

Anyways this is good news. I just never bought a RockBass because they didn't do any nice pickup options like the $$...Now if they do that in 5-string....GAS ALERT GAS ALERT!!!

First off Sterling by Musicman...Now upgraded Rockbass'...This "Recession" garbage may just have given the companies a kick they much needed.
Follow Fender in this trend, they do many basses in many price ranges from many different countries and it never hurt their name.

LOL I don't get why people would be mad about the Warwick logo replacing the RockBass I mean, do you like to show off your Warwick on stage because it has a great tone and feel OR because it's a "real" Warwick?...Chances are the audience don't give a what.
It's not like your saying you drive a Chevy when really it's a Daewoo...LOL!

So yeah, great news man.
Maybe this'll help more kids drop Guitar Hero for the real deal...But then Rockbass are like £300 to start anyways so maybe not haha!
This year is gonna be EVRY interesting gear wise...Very!

17.
It's nice to see there's some love for the BTBs. I thought I was alone... :)
No way. Many like them I'm sure.
They may have gone ultimatly exotic on woods but that's not a bad thing I guess...some make me feel sick though.
I just wish they'd bring the Maple FIngerboards over to the 6-string models!!!

18.
Nah my OLP MM32 went to Stoo I think, or did I buy it from stoo? string spacing was tight to say the least. plus the extra neck pickup was too close to the neck so pretty impossible to slap. I wouldnt really recomend them altho the tone wasnt bad for a OLP. Maybe try the new Stirling for musicman range, its musicmans answer to OLP being not under licence anymore.
Yeah sucks that but then, OLP's didn;t get the best reviews ever...I just thought it'd be good for a tinker...Oh well maybe not then.
Thanks. :)

19.
I guess thats it...Tappings back.....
I didn't realise it went...All I've ever seen my entire time playing is guitarists and bassists tapping.
Guilty as charged too!

And yeah they are oldies but decent and experienced ones. I'd love to have even 1% of the success Sheehan has got...4000+ gigs yes please!
He's 56 now and doing better than alot of bands do.
This justs shows how much an impact they have if they can come back and still have fans waiting.
Modern bands I like often don't last 2 albums.

20. Great vid.
LOL Gilbert looks very...Odd...
Sheehan all the way man!

I just wish I could accomplish what he has...Thats some sick bass playing in popular music that got radio time.
Don't hear anything like this now...

I hope the Mr. Big reunion kick starts something...Ditch the Guitar Hero kids and play some real music.
Let's kick this modern R&B rubbish off the radio!
Music like this needs to come back and we need to play it.
