We have had some items disapear in the post one in the UK and one that was sent to Germany. The UK one is going through the claim process and we have been told that there is a backlog and it may take a few weeks. The parcel sent to Germany has not arrived but was only sent 2 weeks ago so may still arrive. Two things I have concluded from this are, 1. Don't deal with anyone outside the UK and 2. Get all post sent registered, I think it was 70p more.

I quite like it, I'd like to here how it sounds amplified.

I like "Breakfast with Alice" he doesn't get all over excited or up his own arse like some breakfast presenters I could mention. He has been there and done it and tells a good yarn about almost every rock band.

It's also like the old 2nd chance offer, Someone correct me if I'm wrong. I bid on a Land Rover some years ago and was out bid. The winning bidder backed out. Now if memory serves me correct (which it doesn't always) the price droped down to the next highest bid, which was me. My argument was that the winner backed out so all their bids should have been cancelled and thus going down to my starting bid not my highest bid. Hence I didn't accept the offer.
Let's see... just over the winning bidder was the wrong amount but just UNDER the winning bid is the right amount!
That's exactly what I thought.
To me it looks like a high bid has been put in by bidder3 but 10 mins before the end, when no one has outbid them they have retracted their bid. Thats not a problem though because now they know the winning bidders highest bid and can force the bidding up. -
Hmmm
It took BIDDER 3 Over 20 mins to realise they had "entered wrong amount". -
Basically as it says above how many wires does an MM2 pickup have?
Thanks -
+1 for strings direct from me, good prices and quick delivery. I think their roto jazz flats are the cheapest around £22.95.

Mr Russ
If you do go ahead with the BEAD idea, Rotosound do a Swing bass 66 extra heavy (65-80-105-130). You can get these fron Stringbusters for £16. I don't know if you like Roto's or not but I think it saves buying a 5 string set paying more and only using 4 of them. -
Hmmmm GAS.
I suffer small bouts of it. When I was 17 I tried a Stingray and wanted one. 17 years later I finally bought one. But now I've got it I still pine for my old 78 P'bass (I sold about 11 years ago ). Something about the simple plug in and play of the Precision I like. Now I could buy a budget P copy for a couple of hundred but would that be enough?. I could chop in/sell the Ray and buy a Fender but would I miss the Ray?, after all Ive waited long enough to get one.
I suppose what I'm saying is My GAS is caused by trying to find a bass that equals that old 78. Don't get me wrong the Ray is a very good bass and well worth the money I paid. Oh I feel lost in a sea of basses there are so many more to choose from these days than when I were a lad. -
I saw that one go, thought someone got a bargain.

Have you tried a Vintage P-bass. Someone bought one to rehearsals the other night. It looked good and played and sounded great. I think GAK do them for about £125. There is also Westfield, there are some on ebay for £59 buy it now.

Hmmm a bit like Bolt Thrower, What guage strings are you using at the mo. I have found myself in the same dilema, and still can't work out what to do. One band tunes to D and the other to E so I find myself tuning up and down all the time. So I would suggest a 5 as it solves both problems.

Hi Nick
Welcome
I am from Malvern originally, now Ive moved up north. What part of Worcestershire are you in?. Which bands were you in?.
Cheers

I don't think it add's to the value though, maybe desirability which in turn is capitalised on. Like I said earlier if someone thinks it's worth that amount then it'll go. I saw a Corvette standard 5 go on ebay today for less than £300 what more can I say?.
-
I'll quiz the guy next time I'm in there. I thought the price was a bit on the high side, but as has been said before if someone thinks it is worth that then it'll go. If not it may still be there in 12 months. I'm not a fan of either Nick or Jamiraquai, so to me it's just another Corvette.
I sometimes wonder why guitars/basses go for so much more just because who has owned them. Then again I buy to play not just hang on the wall. -
Met Jim and Phil Capaldi in a pub in Worcester.
Some friends of mine had a bloke knock on their door looking for a dentist, turned out it was Robert Plant. -
I can't remember exactly what it said on the card but it implied that it was one of Nicks basses at some time. There is/was a Fender P bass in a Middlesbrough shop that I was told was used by the guy from the Levellers.

I use a bees wax based balm on my stingray neck, brings it up a treat.
-
Saw it today, It's a Corvette Standard 5 string. Didn't look close enough to see if it was active or passive. There was a pic of Nick holding said bass. 799 quid.

Yea I had looked at them. I had a BB414 last year, well made and easy to get on with. It will probably go on the short list.

I'm looking for a second band to gig with. I'm in a punky covers band and the guitarist plays in other bands and does solo stuff so I couldn't see it being a problem. As things stand we are doing open mic nights and informal gigs so its more like a part time band. The only problem I can see is rehearsal times more than gigs.

You should have said, "didn't I see you in that film, you know the one with Burt Reynolds, Deliverence wasn't it".

I like it! I was this close to buying a P bass in sunset orange.

Has anyone got one or tried one yet. I'm still looking for a budget 5 string and with one thing or another havn't got around to buying one. I've now got my 4 tuned to C with some heavier strings but would prefer to go the whole hog and get a 5.
Cheers
