1. Has anyone got one or tried one yet. I'm still looking for a budget 5 string and with one thing or another havn't got around to buying one. I've now got my 4 tuned to C with some heavier strings but would prefer to go the whole hog and get a 5.

    Cheers

  2. We have had some items disapear in the post one in the UK and one that was sent to Germany. The UK one is going through the claim process and we have been told that there is a backlog and it may take a few weeks. The parcel sent to Germany has not arrived but was only sent 2 weeks ago so may still arrive. Two things I have concluded from this are, 1. Don't deal with anyone outside the UK and 2. Get all post sent registered, I think it was 70p more.

  3. It's also like the old 2nd chance offer, Someone correct me if I'm wrong. I bid on a Land Rover some years ago and was out bid. The winning bidder backed out. Now if memory serves me correct (which it doesn't always) the price droped down to the next highest bid, which was me. My argument was that the winner backed out so all their bids should have been cancelled and thus going down to my starting bid not my highest bid. Hence I didn't accept the offer.

  4.
Let's see... just over the winning bidder was the wrong amount but just UNDER the winning bid is the right amount!
That's exactly what I thought.

To me it looks like a high bid has been put in by bidder3 but 10 mins before the end, when no one has outbid them they have retracted their bid. Thats not a problem though because now they know the winning bidders highest bid and can force the bidding up.

  5. Mr Russ

If you do go ahead with the BEAD idea, Rotosound do a Swing bass 66 extra heavy (65-80-105-130). You can get these fron Stringbusters for £16. I don't know if you like Roto's or not but I think it saves buying a 5 string set paying more and only using 4 of them.

  6. Hmmmm GAS.

I suffer small bouts of it. When I was 17 I tried a Stingray and wanted one. 17 years later I finally bought one. But now I've got it I still pine for my old 78 P'bass (I sold about 11 years ago :) ). Something about the simple plug in and play of the Precision I like. Now I could buy a budget P copy for a couple of hundred but would that be enough?. I could chop in/sell the Ray and buy a Fender but would I miss the Ray?, after all Ive waited long enough to get one.

I suppose what I'm saying is My GAS is caused by trying to find a bass that equals that old 78. Don't get me wrong the Ray is a very good bass and well worth the money I paid. Oh I feel lost in a sea of basses  there are so many more to choose from these days than when I were a lad.

  7. Hmmm a bit like Bolt Thrower, What guage strings are you using at the mo. I have found myself in the same dilema, and still can't work out what to do. One band tunes to D and the other to E so I find myself tuning up and down all the time. So I would suggest a 5 as it solves both problems.

  8. I'll quiz the guy next time I'm in there. I thought the price was a bit on the high side, but as has been said before if someone thinks it is worth that then it'll go. If not it may still be there in 12 months. I'm not a fan of either Nick or Jamiraquai, so to me it's just another Corvette.

I sometimes wonder why guitars/basses go for so much more just because who has owned them. Then again I buy to play not just hang on the wall.
