  2. I too, am deeply saddened by this news as I had been in touch with Si just a couple of weeks ago. He was a true gent and was always ready to help. I know his presence on Basschat will be missed terribly and condolences go out to his family and friends.

    RIP Si

  3. Hello again

A quick update to see if we can move the Eko any closer North. How you doin Chris ? Hope you're feeling better. Bob, in response to your earlier post about coming to Snowdon on the 24th. Is that still looking likely to happen ?
Hello to Wayne, Any news on where your travels may take you ? Bob mentioned Epsom or Docklands IIRC. Realise I've probably left it a little too late again but thought it worth a bump.
Hi also to Steve Redstripe, hows tricks ? Are you spending any time in London at the mo?
Also just to re-iterate that I would be more than happy get over towards Birmingham M5 / M6 to facilitate a pickup if anyone is going that way.

    Cheers for now

    Paul

  4. Hi Guys

Hope your recovery is comfortable Chris, I'm currently nursing an ear infection which has left me very deaf, so I wouldn't be able to hear this bass even if it did get here :) .

Anyway, thanks for the networking, hopefully it will work out.

Bob, thanks for your offer of the 24th. Snowdon is very close to us if we can't get sorted before.

p.s forgot to mention beer/string tokens for those able to help. This is much appreciated !

    Cheers

  5. Hi Guys n Gals

A couple of months ago I bought a acoustic Eko bass from Beedster. For one reason or another we've been unable to meet up as we'd planned. Due to the fragility of the bass and its rather unique shape its also been tricky to find a hard case that will definately fit. There will be a well padded soft case with it.
Was wondering if any of you would be in a position to help getting it from the Canterbury area up to the North Wales area. I live near Bangor but would happily travel over towards Birmingham or Chester / Wrexham or somewhere to pick up.

Thanks for listening. Hope you don't think I'm being too cheeky. Thought it was worth a shot.

    Cheers

  6. Here's a feeler for my Zoot Performer 4 string bass.

Great reliable bass, gorgeous neck. I have used it alot over the last few years but now I am generally sticking to my JV Jazz and have decided to stop hoarding basses so its time to move it on. Volume, pan, active bass and treble eq. Ash body. Zoot logo on body is fading away gradually. Could do with a new set of strings if you like em' zingy, but everything works fine and dandy.
Sorry about rubbish pic, Will try to get some better ones up later tonight

    £360 ovno

I'm in North Wales. Happy to remove neck and send by courier at buyers expense.

    Cheers Paul

  7. Thanks for the link Wayne.

That at least shows there is more scope for a battery powered amp than the Pignose currently offers, although I wouldn't want to pay that much for the privilege.
Here's another idea. Could I use my East J Retro as a preamp in the amp instead of the bass with a little modding.

Hi Casapete, will let you know if I get anywhere with this.
Any other Pignose owners out there ?

Didn't somebody here build a BFM Omni 10.5 and then stick a little 5 watt amp in there. I seem to remember it worked ok for fun.

Any advice on possible speaker/s etc welcome. still don't the ohmage yet tho, Is there a way to test this ?

And finally, Am I just being silly or d'ya think its a go'er ?

    P.

  8. Hi

I have a Pignose Hog 30watt job. Great because its battery powered, but it sounds pretty pants with its 8" speaker. Anybody know what ohmage the speaker may be, I've had a look inside but it don't say on the speaker. I would hope it would sound better with a 10" speaker. I've also considered taking the idea and making it better ie: rebuild the cab bigger and lighter, neo speaker and more powerful amp that could still be powered by a 12v battery.

Any thoughts would be welcomed. Gotta dash to a gig now but if I make any progress I'll keep you all informed.

    Cheers Paul

  9. Thanks Chris and Dave

I'm so looking forward to this. I once saw one of these in a music shop and just plucked one string while it was still on the stand. Just that sounded amazing but I didn't dare pick it up as my GAS had reached epic proportions and I didn't have the funds at the time. Ever since, I've been on the lookout and here we are.
Dave, Thanks for the heads up on the strings. I've got a set of TI flats and the lemon oil at the ready, so I'll see how I get on with them.
As an aside, does anyone have for sale (or can recommend) a good pickup for this bass. I've heard good things about the K&K Pure Bass pickup but don't know much about this sort of thing.

Cheers Guys, Chris look forward to meeting you on the 2nd May.

    Paul
