1.
I've just bought a mixer which came with a flight case but the flight case it easily big enough to also store several pedals in it, i was wondeirng if anyone knew where i could buy sheets of foam padding. I'm looking for 1" thick sheets about the size of an A3 piece of paper, though i could always cut things down to size. Any help would be greatfully appreciated. Thanks
I found these guys online http://www.hardy-hanson.co.uk/foam_parts.htm I think they sell on ebay as well. Good luck
 2. Anyone know of a company or shop in London that can attach pedalboard carpet to a solid pre-cut piece of particleboard? I'm also looking for this to be a permanent fix. Cheers
 3.
I do know the feeling, very well in fact! I've lost some really nice stuff for peanuts in the past. The Gallery, while a good shop and resource for trying high end gear, are very expensive, so I don't blame you for going with what they'd put it up for sale for. Yeah I did luck out on that one, one of them even had the PS-1 power supply with it $500 is still a really good deal for a BNIB one. I've seen them go upwards of $900! Finally, good luck with the sale Oh and welcome to the forum! You'll have an awesome (but expensive!) time!
Cheers Higgie, and its nice to have finally joined the forum.... I've posted a bit of an intro about myself, playing style, gear etc on the introductions category....look forward to hearing more of your (and others') experience, interests etc. Chris
 4.
Hey man, welcome to the board. I gotta say though, I'm surprised that after listing all of that killer gear, you added a Behringer 1200 amp, which is one of the worst P.O.S I've ever seen, heard or played through.
Hi Max, I agree its a POS compared to all my other little goodies - but it was DIRT CHEAP (as in AUS$75) and takes up such a small amount of space in my practice room!! Of course, I'd never dream of taking it to a gig..... Point taken though.....pretend I never even mentioned it!! Cheers
 5.
welcome aboard matey
Cheers mate!! And all the Kiwis I've met have been very cool dudes....if somewhat crazy!!
 6.
piiiics! Nice collection there, hope you enjoy the forum!
Hey Josh, Most of the Fenders are back in Oz (where I'll return, eventually), along with the original Mu-tron III, Ampeg rig and '78 Stingray (too valuable and rare to ship over here). I brought across the Sterling and Stingray 5 and purchased the '08 J bass over here, together with the Ashdown rig and Sadowsky and EBS pedals. Gotta say, gear over here in Europe is much less expensive than at home....we have to pay a ridiculous amount of $$ for stuff in Oz. BTW, if you ever buy a new Fender American Standard J bass I can guarantee it'll end up as a keeper - they sound and feel awesome!! Currently, my favourite working instrument..... Will post up some pix as soon as I can sort out the lens problem with my camera! Cheers, Chris
 7.
Hi to all fellow BPs, I've just joined Basschat and would like to be courteous and introduce myself. Living in London for around 2 years, from Australia originally, and currently working with a French jazz band (standards, funk and originals) doing gigs in London and Paris. I'm also starting work soon with a newly-formed salsa band, which plays its first gig next Sunday. I play mostly jazz now but have also done lots of funk, rnb, latin and rock gigs, and while I enjoy the challenge of playing most styles, at age 45, and after 25 years of doing gigs, I have settled on jazz as being my main interest. Conservatory-trained in Melbourne, many years ago. Gear: Lots of Fenders - '62, '72, '75 and '08 fretted J basses, '73 fretless J bass (originally fretted). As you can tell, I love Fender J basses. Second favourites are Musicmans, I have a '78 Stingray 4, '97 Sterling 4 (up for sale on this site) and '06 Stingray 5. Rigs: Ampeg SVT-III Head (valve preamp, SS power amp), 2 Ampeg 4x10 cabs, EV TL-15 cab (20 years old and still going strong), Ashdown EVO II 500 Combo (2x10 + horn), Behringer BX1200 practice amp. Effects: Musitronics Mu-tron III, HAZ Labs Mu-tron III reissue, EHX Bassballs (El Nano), Korg G5 Synth Module (up for sale on this site), EHX Bass Big Muff, Boss OC2 Octaver, EBS Multicomp, EBS Dynaverb. Looking forward to many interesting and informative music/bass discussions, and perhaps meeting some of you in the future! Cheers and best wishes
Forgot to add Sadowsky outboard preamp!

 9.
Although the weight is an indicator it does not gaurantee the wood as swamp ash. Mother nature provides some heavy swamp ash & some very light sen & north american ash. What I was really hoping for was something from EB saying the bass was made of swamp ash, presumably as a one off? If you have something along those lines I think you may get trampled in the rush.
Alas, I don't have the original certificate that came with the bass, it was misplaced several years ago while moving house and I never chased down a copy since, until now, I hadn't intended ever selling it. If you want to check it out for weight, its in the Gallery in Camden.
 10.
It's nothing personal mate, really, but you won't get £400 for this. I'm just trying to help you get a sale by suggesting you drop the price a bit. You say it's a "forced" sale, but you won't get the money you need by over charging people! Also, just FYI, I up until very recently owned 2 Mutron III's (both original at that) and I paid less than £400 for the both of them.
No problem Higgie, I've not taken it personally, however I'm sure you know the feeling when having to part with a rare piece of gear.....you'd like to feel that you get a good price to make up for having to sell it. However, I would be prepared to drop the price. This is after consideration of the following: 1. current tough economic times and 2. someone has pointed out one for sale (albeit in the US) for a lower price. Also, as a newcomer to this Forum, the last thing I'd want to do is overcharge or rip off others. The set price was after discussion with the Bass Gallery in Camden (where the pedal is currently on consignment). If anyone in/near London would like to check it out they should drop in there, run it through its paces and then get back to me if definitely interested or making an offer. I'd then be happy to agree on mutually satisfactory price. Finally Higgie, if you managed to get 2 original Mu-trons for £400.....man, you got the bargain of the century!! I paid US$500 for one in mint condition several years ago (it was, admittedly, BNIB). Talk again sometime
 11.
Good luck with the sale mate, but at £400 "FIRM", I think you'll need all the luck you can get.
Try getting hold of one of these pedals through ebay or any other forum - here in the UK or o/s - and you'll find they come up, maybe once every couple of years. They're probably rarer than the original Mu-tron III, which justifies the price for one in excellent condition. Kind regards
 12.
This is definitely swamp ash - I purchased the bass direct from the EB factory on a trip to the US in '97 and hand picked it from several due to its light weight etc. The bass is on consignment at the Bass Gallery in Camden so can be tested there, but I'll get some pix up in the next 24 hours (gotta get to work right now).
Hi again, Unfortunately, I took the bass in to the Gallery before thinking to take some pix so the only one I've got is from a few years back in Oz (with my little boy rocking out on it). The picture doesn't really do it justice, so anyone in or near London who's interested could check it out at the Gallery. Anyway, its the sound and feel of this bass that make it stand out from other MMs.
 13.
Do you know for definate that this swamp ash? AFAIK, EB use non-specific ash. Pics and an idea of weight would be good.
 14.
Is there something wrong with the woods they have used post 1997? I've always known Ernie Ball as a company with a reputation for making consistently good quality instruments? People will ask for pics by the way.
Nothing wrong with the wood they use these days, I also play a 2006 Stingray 5 and it sounds great. However, compared to the Sterling (and my '78 Stingray - back home in Oz) I've noticed a distinct difference between 'older' and 'newer' MMs, with the older ones sounding richer and punchier, and I don't feel this is solely due to ageing of the wood etc. Also, the older MMs are far more visually and aesthetically attractive (again, my opinion). The bass is on consignment at the Bass Gallery in Camden, London so it can be put to the test through whatever rig/effects takes your fancy, however I'll try to get some pix up in the next 24 hours (have some gigs to get to and am on the way out the door).
 15. Hi All, Selling a '97 MM Sterling, all original, vgc with only a few very minor dings. Cherry burst colour, with original hardcase. Neck is fast and straight with no warping, and is constructed from beautiful AAA birdseye maple (in the days when Ernie Ball used top quality woods). Body is a nice, light southern swamp ash. The result is awesome tone that cuts through any mix with that classic, punchy MM sound. Versatile sound, used on countless jazz, funk, rock, latin and rnb gigs in since purchased. Killer slap sound. Forced credit crunch sale, asking for £900. Also selling a Korg G5 Synth Bass module, listed under Effects for Sale category. Cheers
 16. Hi all, I'm selling a Korg G5 Synth Module, excellent condition, studio use only with original manual and AC adaptor (configured for Australia, place of purchase in 1997). AC adaptor works fine with UK conversion plug or a suitable UK adaptor. Excellent effect rivalling Akai Deep Impact for sound, flexibility and tracking (better, in my opinion). Also a very rare pedal, with production being discontinued in 1997 (or thereabouts). Forced credit crunch sale, so asking for £400 firm plus postage costs. Cheers
