Can I also add my thanks and admiration to John (Oldslapper) for organising this event - top bloke as were all the other bass players (& Dom) there! Thanks to all of those who were kind enough to let me have a look/go on their gear……
As with all things that are enjoyable, the afternoon was over far too quickly, enjoyed every minute!
Martin’s rig of Doom / Capt Rumble’s combination with my bass was awesome – I can feel GAS coming on again!!!!
Having watched Ian's performance, I'd better get practising big time!

Sounds interesting!! - I'll add the date to my diary

Hi Joe, good to see you on here. I am based just outside Salisbury so we might have to swap local gigging stories!
Regards - Rich -
Just a brief note to say that Eddy is a great bloke to deal with....I purchased an Ampeg pre-amp from him. It was vey well packaged and arrived in very quick time. The comms were also excellent. I would have no hesitation buying from Eddy again!

Just an update on the Southern Compact journey......I handed over the cab to Stingrayfan this lunchtime.
Thanks again Alex for the opportunity to try out the cab - top bloke! -
Just played the cab at a gig last night so thought that I'd add my impressions:
Firstly, I've got to say how light this cab is - unbelieveable! unfortunately, I had to gloat a number of times with the other members of the band by inviting them to pick it up after seeing them struggle with their gear. It looks the part too. My only observations / recommendations for modification (allbeit very picky!) would be : the corner protectors could be a bit more beefy and the addition of a second carry strap, maybe on top.
Now to the important bit, the sound - the response is very smooth, neutral and low, although you do hear the highs quite well. Like many people on here, I use a Markbass LII and using this, the cab had no problem dealing with everything that I could throw at it. I'm more use to the colouration of "other cabs" (Trace / Ashdown) as I like more of an edgy sound and I'm not sure whether the Compact quite gave me what I was looking for, but that's probably more to do with the fact that I did'nt have a lot of time to dial in my sound (which I'm sure that I could achieve with the Compact given a bit more time).
In summary, a great sounding / looking cab at a great price! Score 9/10
Oh, and one other very important point to make - a big thank you to Alex for making this trial possible, not aware of many manufacturers who would support this kind of thing. I know that Alex is obviously keen to promote his product but this cab represents a significant portion of his budget, so all credit to him to making this happen - thanks again!
I'll now make arrangements to pass this cab on to Stingray fan - hopefully later this week.
Happy to take this after PhilTheBassist. Not gigging till December, so that might work?
I've just checked with voxpop (next on the list after me) and he has asked me to remove him from the list so I guess that if no one has any major objections, I can pass it on to Stingrayfan. -
Rats, I've had a "Wanted post" on here for one of these for a couple of months now but have missed out again!

Just to add my thanks to the mix.....great day, lots of lovely gear to drool over and interesting talks given by Alex and Jakesbass!

Hi, maybe if Phil is away, as I'm next on the list, it might make more sense for me to take it then pass onto Phil after? but only if you can't contact Phil

Hi, is the head still for sale?
-
Hi there Dave, obviously the Sandberg is working out for you if you are looking to sell your beloved MM!
-
Just a quick message to say that Dave, who bought a Sandberg PM bass from me, is a top bloke - very easy to deal with and made the whole process painless. I would highly recommend dealing with this guy, who is also a wealth of "spinal tap" experiences. Cheers Dave, Rich.

Hi there Alex, I would be interested also - I am based in the Salisbury area near to the "stones" so could ask the Druids there opinion!

Good point! I'm in the Salisbury area, Wiltshire.
Thanks. -
Hi there, I'm looking to sell or trade my Sandberg PM-4 bass. (in terms of a trade, I am only looking for a Yamaha Attitude 2). This is the PM4, 4 string version which is very closely based upon the Fender Precision theme but with additional features thrown into the mix. The bass is equipped with a Sandberg single humbucker and two P type pick-ups which can be run in both active (2 eq) and passive modes giving a multitude of tonal variations. The bass was bought new in March 09, is in excellent condition and even has the protective film still over the pick guard. It has just been used at home for a recording project. There are the odd few, very light scratches in the usual places but nothing worth mentioning. I've tried to capture these in the photo's but as stated, they are very light.
The bass is set up ready to go, and will come with a new, good quality soft case. I'm afraid that due to horror stories with postal services, that the bass will have to be collected. In terms of price, as these basses (in the gloss finish) retail for approximately £1000.00, I would be looking for an offer of £675.00.
Any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Yamaha Attitude II Re-Wire Required
in Repairs and Technical
Posted
Hi, wonder if someone can help? My Yamaha Attitude II needs a re-wire as the previous owner re-configured the set up and did'nt do a particularly good job!! Can anyone recommend a qualified repairer in the Salisbury (Wiltshire) area that could carry this job out for me?
Any thoughts would be welcome - Rich
