I wonder what Mr Hall is doing about these:

He won't do nuthin', as they say over there. The man might be trying to protect his firm's copyright but he's a bully. I'd call him a lot worse if I thought I'd get away with it but given that there's four guests reading this thread and California is just back from lunch I don't want the mods to get another missive from that bawbag!

Not that I would ever advise working a way round something official like a Portable Appliance Test but have a look here. :yarr:

Some of those sellers are prepared to print initials and pass/next test dates on the labels??

LAbels aren't enough, anyway; they're only a brief visual record that the item has supposedly passed a test. Anyone wanting further clarification will ask for the full certificates and data dumped from the testing unit.

It's a right handed slab bodied Precision played by a left hander. Maybe it's a Fender and it looks like someone's stripped the paint off.

Piece of sh*t to be honest. If you play left handed , buy a left handed bass. Aterall , I wouldn't buy a lefty and turn it upside down. Where's the sense in that?

I dunno, but I reckon the late Keith Ferguson (Fab T'birds) rocked an old P-bass the wrong way round.

  4. Yeh, I fancy one, too! They do other colours: black, natural and maybe red. You just gotta search.

My worry would be if the twin-neck arrived in bits but i think AliBaba uses an ESCROW-type payment service.

    Let's all buy one!!

  5. Have a look at this. Seller says original condition. Was this 'Black over 3TSB' something that Fender regularly did back in the '70s? But, like Rick says, why do it over a '50s model.

  6. Trade Tang and AliBaba have loads of basses like that, even a lush double-necked fella.

  7. Parcelforce does not offer any additional insurance on musical instruments and I only found that out by accident a couple of years ago when a Gibbo 335 I shipped to Spain went missing. It was eventually found sitting in a cage in an unused area of a warehouse. Check the 'Fragile' list of this link and remember the list:-

IMO, those guys at UK Mail should be identified and sacked, if they haven't been already. What a shocking way to treat people's property, people who are, in effect, paying their wages! And I wasn't surprised to see evidence of petty theft taking place with regard to the bottles of fizz.

In the industry's defence, though I must say that I never saw anything like that going when I did some agency work for a large UK courier firm back in the '90s. I was often there in the evening when the bulk deliveries came up from Coventry and all the ops on the sorting conveyor treated the items with care. And the full-time couriers all seemed to be concientious.

I'll count myself lucky in that I've never had to claim on courier damage. Anyone got any real horror stories?
