  1. By the way, Neil uses a modded Fender Precision with Bartolini P and Humbucking pickups - Neil's own bass - for the whole show apart from a Sei fretless 4 for the start of 'Crazy Little Thing' (which you switch mid-way through back to a fretted bass!!) and a USA Fender P Deluxe 5 for 'I Want It All'.
The fretless and the 5 are compulsary!
Let us know how you get on.

  2. I've done WWRY a bit.
Make sure you do your homework and don't interpret the parts at all!!! Knowing the Queen songs will only really help so much; you need to know what the dots mean inside out.
Best bass to use is a P Bass with a Hipshot.
No One But You (Only The Good Die Young) is the toughest tune!
Tony the drummer is a diamond; Neil's a great bloke too. It's loads of fun, massive pressure, but a nice thing to pop on your CV.
    Good luck!

  3. Hi guys,
I'm advertising this on behalf of a friend who isn't registered with basschat.
It's a Japanese model (bought in Japan sometime in 2003/4) Fender Standard Jazz, passive 4 string.
Black with Rosewood board, comes with hard case shown in picture.
VGC apart from a few marks on the back.
Asking £445 but will accept reasonable offers above £400 No trades thanks.
Cash on collection preferred - might consider a meet-up depending on delivery.
Any questions please call 01327 264872 and speak to Ed.
The bass can be viewed in Byfield, Northants area
    Cheers!
    Nick

  4. [quote name='JimmySims' post='1047363' date='Dec 4 2010, 02:48 PM']Ok, so I'm thinking I need to get rid of my Ashdown rig. Its an ABM500RC and two mini 48 cabs. The cabs are flight cased in purple ABS cases, and have had the old blue speakers taken out and replaced with Ashdowns newer black lighter and more powerful speakers.

What do you think? Anybody after that sort of thing? I'm not sure about a price yet... I understand that the flight cases will be worth hardly anything of the original price, but they are pretty good and in really good condition.

Send me a message if you think you might be into it or any part of it.

Arf arf! I thought you had a gig with the Saturdays tonight; you should be busy at soundcheck (or are you??!!)

  5. Hi guys,

Bag End sold to Beedster - just Ashdown left.

Defo need to move these two compact cabs (the Aguilars on the way!); a 2004 Ashdown 4x8", originally 600w, 8ohm but now loaded with Sica Neo drivers and an old Bag End S 15B 1x15", again with a Sica Neo cone, 8ohm.
Both cabs were made new with a natural wood finish (the Bag End had a new grille and corners fitted at Straightedge, who make Ashdown, Overrun etc ages ago) but have since been re-varnished and are well battle-scarred - with a real old skool vibe to them.
The 4x8" tips the scales at about 20kg.
I'm in SE9 - I'd rather buyer collects if anyone's interested but will also meet up in the London/M25 area if it helps.
Ideally I'm looking for £125 for the 4X8" but I'll gladly haggle!
Great for medium sized stages; I use an ABM500 or an AG500 with loads of effects and they take anything I throw at them.
Together they have a strong mid-range presence; a good combination for rockier tones. As mentioned before the Bag End is a lovely cab for small stuff due to its round bottom end.
    Any questions let me know.
    Cheers!

  8. Sorry chaps - that's not reading threads properly on iPhones for you!
    A 715S was a late 80s/early 90s model; an upgraded 715 with extra power - 200w - an extension speaker out and a DI.
Combos of this spec were actually called a 715S; they were renamed 7215 for subsequent versions - the wide bodied ones, which then became SM or SMX versions at 250w, then carpet 300w versions.
    You do have a 715S.
Apologies.......it was a long time ago!
