Dante's in Portland? If the girls seem a bit too friendly they're probably on break from the strip joint next door. Not that I'd have any direct knowledge of that.
The gig has apparently been moved from Dante's.....I'm not sure what the venue it's been moved to is called, I had heard it was the Star Theatre but the interweb tells me someone else is playing there that night.
When I said spinal tap, I wasn't kidding!
I do know it's Chop Suey in Seattle, The Colony in Sacramento, Elbo Room in SF, The Echo in LA....the actual venue names in Phoenix, Vancouver and Portland are currently unknown -
I am really excited.
It's a bucket list thing.
One of those things you set as an ambition when you're a kid - "One day I want to be in spinal tap"......never believing it would become a reality.
I'm a bit worried about being shot! -
I have a Super12T and a Super Midget
i love them both.
I use the midget for rehearsals so hadn't used the S12T for ages - i had been debating selling it.
I gigged the S12T at The Garage last Saturday and had forgotten just how good it was.
I had the pre at about 9 oclock and the master at only 10oclock on my Puma900 and the bass was thunderous - so much headroom in that rig. -
I'd play everything apart from the G in the final bar on the A string but I guess I'm lazy

Next week I'll embark on our first ever tour of USA - well part of USA anyway,
We will be knackered.
We fly to Austin TX on 14/3
We play SXSW next Tuesday 15/3 - we are scheduled to play at quarter past midnight = this will feel like 5.15am to us!!
Then we fly from Austin to Portland Oregan to join the 'bus'.
I have no idea how comfortable this 'bus' might be.
We drive to Seattle where we play our 1st proper gig of the tour. 17/3
Then we drive over the border into Canada to play in Vancouver the next day,18/3
Then we drive back to Portland for a gig there. 19/3
We then drive to Sacramento where we get a day off before another show. 21/3
The next day we play in San Francisco. 22/3
After that I'm not sure where we're going as we have 3 days before the next show in Phoenix, 25/3
The following day we do a radio session for a LA radio station 26/3
The next day we play at The Echo in LA...27/3
Then we fly home.....
Just thought I'd share.
Anyone got any advice on:
Sleeping
Coping with jet lag
Dealing with promoter screw ups
Coping with boredom
What to do 23&24?
etc etc -
coffee tables
gold hardware
natural finishes
more than 4 strings
headless basses -
You can see me pointing out to Mr singer that his guitar was muted by his tuner pedal at the beginning....then he spends half the song wondering why there's no noise coming out of his guitar! hahaha

And Loz - you are forgiven -

Done. I think you should have a 'possibly' option for the last question.

ditto as it depends what this mystery miracle worker is, what it looks like (if it's going to be onstage - assumed as that's where all the gear i assume it's 'protecting' will be)...but if that's so where does the extra stage space come from?

I've played a ton of Alembics, Ken Smiths, etc that totally dispel this idea...

I'm not saying that heavyweight = cheap......
All I'm saying is that weight probably does not reflect the price of a bass but, in my experience, cheaper basses do tend to be heavier than perhaps is comfortable. -

I've been most used to cheapies being built from wood which was a bit flyweight.
Really?
I've always thought cheap = heavyweight....
My old Kay from 79/80 weighed a ton -

Do your own copper plating...it's easy -

I don't want a funeral... I want to be fly tipped in a hedge down the side of the M6...

I want to be pickled in a jar of formaldehyde and stood in the corner, surveying my universe. -
Basschat has some wonderful members.
While trying to wire up the PSU on my new pedal board I posted a thread hoping to find sources for various cables.
One of the cables required was a short 2.1mm right angle to female cable to convert a straight 2.1 on a Trex current doubler cable.
Dave came to my rescue and made this tiny cable - it must only be 3" long but it is EXACTLY what I needed and fits PERFECTLY.
Dave - I would recommend you to all my friends without hesitation!
:-) -
Or you could just leave the bushes in and fit some new tuner pegs
For lightweight have you checked Gotoh Resolites?
I prefer them.
Edit: They're available in nickel finish so after a while will take on the same patina as your bushes. -
TecAmp Pumas don't need a speaker load.

IMO you can't beat Warmoth....I've had 3.
But they are expensive.

When asked what I do, I usually reply "I play bass",

This
although to be more accurate it ought to be " I try to play bass" -
Horrible racket...
I don't think she's that great...too mechanical...and what a sh*t tone she has.... -
