  1. Rockschool introduced me to some of my all time favorite bass players. I'd never actually seen someone play bass before watching that show. Larry Graham's explanation on the role of the bass was and still is the best piece of advice I've ever received. For those who haven't seen that episode....... Pay close attention to 21-36 sec on the video. This has gone a long way for me.

So many things that I learned from watching that show have stayed with me, and helped me throughout my 32 years of playing bass in all situations. Very grateful for Rockschool!!

Please by all means..... Bring it back!

Best of luck with it Craig. I have to say it's not my thing these days, but like Chris2112 I'd have really dug it about 10 years ago. It's great though, great sound too, although I'd have liked to hear a bit more bass under the heavy guitar parts. All the best.

Thank you for checking it out, and for your input. :)

    Thank you kind sir!!

Glad you dig the bass sound! That's my trusty 97' Yamaha BBG4, EMG-J pickups, Sansamp DI, into a Neve board. I didn't use any kind of amp for this recording. I liked how it sounded straight into the board so I didn't bother with it. :)

    It's like it's 1999 all over again!

Haha I'll take that, music sucked way less back then ;) Before the autotune craze, and before everything was pro-tooled to hell. I've been in this band for 20 years, this is actually a new song though. haha :) Thanks for listening

I like that. I don't tend to listen to much of this type of music these days (apart from RATM occasionally) but went through a big phase of loving 311, Downset, Dust Junkies etc. and this fits right in these, both stylistically and in terms of quality. Good luck with the single.

    Roland Rock,
Thank you for checking it out, and putting us in such good company stylistically :)

  6. Hey guys,
If you have a moment, have a listen to my submission to Bootsy's bass contest. The track has Ron Carter, Steve Bailey, FreekBass, Bootsy, Thee Ram, Victor Wooten on it. The track starts with Ron Carter then my turn on upright, then Steve Bailey and back to me, and so on till the end which is my final part.
If you like it you can vote for me if you want to.

  7. The best curly cable I have ever used is this http://www.bulletcable.com/bullet-cable-shop/vintage-retro-30-coil-cable/

I have been using the same one for a couple years, it has traveled with me through about 40 countries and countless shows, not to mention my everyday gigs here in Vegas. Never fails, never crackles or makes odd noises either.

  8. discreet, thank you for posting it for me. To post a video in the old format you had to put something like [youtube] in the link to get it to post. I didn't even try to just post it as it was! :) Editing original post.......
