I often get the wordless, smile-blankly-and-look-straight-past-you-as-you-are-just-the-bass-player-while-seeking-out-guitarist-or-hot-lady-singers treatment ...

Thats the bits I like. I'd hate to get "punter attack" apres gig (busy)
I'm just not tolerant/polite enough!

3. Just after I'd finished playing on Saturday night a Bloke came up to me and said:
"Oy! You!, whats the difference between playing The Bass Guitar and Pea Green Paint?"
"I Dunno" I said.
"Well", said he, "any F***er can Play The Bass Guitar"
(True)

Surely you can see that Pino is an exceptionally gifted player. There's a very high probability that no BC member is anywhere nearly as gifted. So, to anyone asking, "I want to be a session player. Is reading an advantage?" Unless you can weave bass magic like Pino, then, the answer has got to be YES, absolutely!

Yeah I Know, you are right.
I really need to learn to keep me gob shut!!

5. I hope that bloke "Bilbo" who is all ways banging on about "theory" and "reading" has seen this thread. (yawn) Its just that, possibly, the best Bass player of the last 25 years or more to Grace Gods green earth (to consider who he hasn't played for would be easier) says he "doesnt read." Allright!!
OK, I must admit, he must know some stuff after all that time but... HA HA HA!! go PINO!! gotta love that guy, my Bass Playing hero to say the least.

I guess, if you're ignoring that his first bass was a Fender Precision, which he used when he worked with Jools Holland's Millionaires and with David Knopfler, as well as it being his main fretted bass, until he acquired a Warwick Thumb.

I guess, if you're ignoring that the first project he used the Stingray/OC2/direct to desk combination was Gary Numan's I, Assassin, released in late '82, and a big hit album, before playing on Nick Heyward's North of a Miracle, released in early '83, another big hit album. Paul Young's No Parlez didn't appear until mid '83.

I can't for the life of me play a fretless. I try but my intonation is... non-existent. Never tried one with lines though...

Laugh!!? (but not at You!) a lined fretless is a good idea BTW

I've got an OC-3 and had a similar problem- however I think I've solved it by using the guitar input rather then the bass one! Settings I use are poly mode, dials from left- 3oclock -> 11oclock -> 5oclock

oh right, I'll try that, thanks Steve!

OC2 as OC3 sound very different. The OC3 sounds closest on the -2 Octave (Monophonic) Mode... Just don't actually use the -2 Octave knob. That will get ge you as close as the pedal can get to it... But best bet would me to get an OC2!

Oh right well thats one for trade/swap then. any offers?
thanks P
I'm glad its not just me then!
