Weirdly I just googled this shop and found this thread plus another from 2007 about it Doctorbass started. Reason being I had the neck off my stingray earlier and found a gold sticker with the address etc for the shop on the heel of the neck, I'd never heard of it prior though. Another good place long gone by the sound of it . 🤔

Would trade for an AVRI '63 precision in seminole red, or sunburst.
-
Price drop to £1650, considerable saving on whats pretty much still a brand new bass.

New photos added.

I checked one out at Guitar Guitar in Birmingham last week and left very disappointed… The yellow burst on the back was very poor indeed….Speckled and no wood grain showing.
I wonder if its the same one i looked at, or if they had another in since?
Glad i'm not the only that thinks its way below par for what they charge for um.

I had a look at a sunburst, american vintage II 1960 reissue precision in guitarguitar the other day, it was a lovely bass, the feel and sound were superb even through the little rumble 25 amp they had for demo.
The thing that struck me, that i really didnt like was the way the yellow bit of the burst looked like it was sprayed onto MDF( best way i can describe it really), a sort of speckled look to it with no visible grain underneath at all, the chap that i spoke to said he had a '58 reissue and that was excactly the same.
The 62 reissue before didnt have that look about it, and ive trawled photos of original 60s basses online( never got my hands on a real one, never likely to be able to afford one either😅) and all seem to be translucent enough to see some grain underneath?
Anyone else seen one and noticed the same?

His work was the main reason i started playing the fretless, a sound and style unique. Sheer musical magic.
To echo others, i'm proper upset to hear the sad news.

Yeah, its got dots at the usual 3, 5,7,9 ,12 etc., on the spot where the fret itself would be usually.
are there fret markers on the edge of the neck on this bass ?

Bought a trace head from ValleyArts, couldn't have asked for a better dealing, sent a load of extra photos of the amp, and video, packed it up for posting very well and got it sent to me the next day. Absolutely spot on. Thanks again.

If memory serves TIM was a mis spelling of 'time' on a for sale post a while ago , where the seller was ranting about wasting 'TIM' posting an ad here. You had to see it really, was very amusing.

Just seen this, terrible news, saw him at music live at the NEC in 2000/01, demoing basses as far as i can recall, but do remember being absolutely amazed by his playing, brilliant in a word.
