  1. I don't know the specifics. I've spoken to a few folk. From what I gather it's the difference between a factory and a workshop. The handmade touch and attention to detail. As to what those techniques are, I ain't no luthier. But even then, the level of nuance may extend all the way down to the specific piece of wood it's carved from. One piece of maple is not identical to another piece of maple. A couple of weeks ago I played four spectors and recorded them badly on my phone. All felt like they belonged in the same family but they were not twins. And the US instruments just felt different in the hands to the Euro ones. The growl seemed to sit in a slightly higher frequency of mid and the resonance was stronger. Relatives. Not twins. Not even little brothers. Close cousins I'd say.
  2. Cool response. Yes, I would genuinely be interested to hear that. I've fallen far enough down the Spector rabbithole that I'm all into the tonechasing of that classic Spector sound. Woods, preamps, pickups, build etc...obsessing over nuances. You start thinking 6K is fair and reasonable to get exactly what you want...
  3. Hey Sean, looking at that ebony/maple pair, do you have an opinion on how those different fretboard woods influence the tone, and perhaps with a conparison to the usual Pau Ferro? I'm curious.
  4. Apologies if this is cheeky for this Spector fans thread, but I thought I'd draw your attention to an item wanted post. I'm in the market for a US NS5, if anyone in here is considering moving one on at all. https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/511318-usa-spector-ns5-5-string/
  5. If anyone out there on Basschat is at all interested in owning this bass, please feel free to PM me. I don't mind haggling and offers.
  6. Selling this Darkglass Alpha Omega Ultra pedal. Occasionally gigged. Two distortions to mix, blend, level and drive pots, graphic eq, cab sim, ground lift, grunt and bite switches, micro usb port for laptop/suite access, headphone port. Comes with box, literature and sticker. Would trade for a Darkglass B7K Ultra V2. £200 if collected in person.
  7. I'm selling this Sandberg Forty Eight 5 String. It's faux aged in the factory as a cosmetic choice (made by the previous owner). Looks old and gigged, actually made in 2017. Plays very well, lovely neck, about 9lbs in weight, balances well - no classic Thunderbird neck dive here. Some factory specs: FORTY EIGHT BASS CONSTRUCTION NECK 6 bolted / canadian hardrock maple FRETBOARD 22 frets or fretless SCALE 34 scale FINIH Aged: alder body HARDWARE sandberg PICKUP 1 sandberg splitcoil, 1 sandberg power humbucker, metal covers PREAMP sandberg 2-band, active/passive, passive tone control It comes with a fitted Sandberg case. I'll also throw in the stand because you will need it! Collection only.
  8. I have it confirmed from Mark Vanderkley that there is no difference between these cabs and those pretty burgundy faced versions that seem to sell so well in here. Same cabs. Come and get 'em!
  9. Now £580. Open to offers. Two 112 Vanderkley EXT Cabs for Sale. Individually 300w at 8 ohms, together 600w at 4ohms. Dual speakon inputs in each. Tweeter control. Come with covers. I'm selling because I've acquired another cab and no longer need to keep these.
  10. Purchased a EB Musicman Stingray 5 from Haruki yesterday. A thoroughly nice person; helpful and friendly throughout the transaction process. Answered all questions readily, provided directions, allowed a playtest and even made the tea. Legend. Lovely to meet them. A
