I really like the look of the Tonehammer and the BDDI. Only put off the by the Behringer purely because of the name (had bad experiences before)

Was left up the creek a bit the other day. I had work but was able to get a couple of hours off to go and play a gig. I wouldn't normally do this, but it was a big gig for us and the lads would have been a bit pissed off if I wouldn't be able to make it. However this meant that I wasn't able to take my rig and just had to turn up with my bass and hope for the best. Had to go through an old crappy Peavey that was EQ'd horribly (got told not to touch the EQ by owner) and made my Ray really clanky, even though I'd cut the mids and treble.. But anyway
If a situation like this happens again and I'm unable to bring my amp or cab I want to get something that I can plug into to get a good sound. I'm not sure what to look at really and need a bit of help -
I'd go for a Musicman Stingray. Particularly the one that Rumble is selling at the minute, looks a real beaut. They're not neck through basses though.
That or a Spector -
I'm not too sure about that video Wazoo. It has funky elements, but then just descends into a mass of double thumbing... Not very funky when compared to say, Bootsy
But to be honest I'd love to be able to play up to his level 3! -
Much like risingson I wouldn't like to second guess, but I have seen Abe Laboriel pop up on a few Disney scores

Depends on how clean your technique is Don't think it'd do me any favours!
Don't think that you'll have too much trouble though Faron, having seen your youtube videos -
Put some Hybrid Slinky's on my Stingray this week. Great strings IMO. Nice and bright and nice feel
-
They played at my uni last year and were really good. Bassist was playing a P with a pick through an Ampeg and sounded great.

Sweet lord! That is gorgeous. Best looking stingray I've ever seen I think
A lot of music shops still have staff with bad attitudes, I sometimes feel like I've walked into their house.
This. I havn't been in a music shop to try a bass for years for this reason. Only really go in to get some strings or a new strap when needs must -
Well, the case has made one gentleman in Cheshire a happy little chap.
Haha. Indeed it has. Bump for a great guy -
I used to own an Aria Sb1000 lined fretless. Brilliant basses
-
Bubinga5 posted these the other day. Awesome players and such a tight band!
-
Great guy to deal with. Case came really well packed in a good sturdy box and Bill even sorted me next day delivery. Comms were excellent.

How much does this weigh mate?
Hi Allistair, I see you still have the Eden and managed to pair it up with a 410 xlt! Your dream rig?
The MB has served me extremely well, but I've decided to go for something a bit more 'coloured'!
Thanks for the recommedation
It is indeed my dream rig. Still saving for a 2x10 though to cut down on what I have to take to gigs. I know exactly where you're coming from though wanting something more coloured. -
This used to be mine, and Rumble (Andy) is a great guy to deal with. Great amps too...
-
Read a review of that pairing by someone on here, who compared it with a 70's Pre MM Stingray and said it came very close.
-
£150?! Jammy bastard...
I'd go Nordstrand and J-East 2 EQ MM pre-amp. -
Price drop bump
Bump for a great amp at a great price!
Cheers for all the help guys. I've not been to a music shop for aaages, but I might have to get myself down to one to try some stuff out. Looking at the MXR M80 and Sansamp BDDI primarily. I've always liked MXR products so I'm more drawn towards that at the minute. Is there anything I should look out for with this products? Other than how much the Sansamp colours your tone
