Stick it on musicradar as well.
Paul Clark (aka Clarky) guitarist with the David Cross Band (basically half of King Crimson) uses these in his rig and is always looking for back ups.

For people who haven't heard the unit:

All guitars & bass were recorded using one.
Thanks for the heads up..... -
See, told you I wasn't a fan, I couldn't even spell his name
I still knew he never played one and Alembic SHOULD be going mental over this
Well they aren't happy judging by certain comments, but seeing as though John's Alembic had a Gibson shaped body - they can't really say anything.
Other than the cobwebs and the note inlay markers, there is little else to set John's Exploiter apart and they were probably John's design mods anyway... -
He NEVER played a Dean - total money making exercise, and I don't think they'll make that much either. He didn't actually play that many over a near 40 year career...
Fender Precision
Fender Jazz (these till '71)
Gibson Thunderbird
Fenderbird (these till '75)
Alembic Series I
Alembic Exploiter/Spyder (these till '85)
Warwick Buzzard
Warwick Buzzard with Modulus graphite neck (these till '96)
Status Buzzard 1 and 2 (these until his death in 2002)
However, he owned hundreds!
BTW, no 'H' in Entwistle!!!! -

Yep, great bass player... also married to Sophie Ellis Bextor - some people are just too lucky!
-
Bought a Korg effects unit off Pete... great guy, pleasure to do business with.
Cheers! -
Do it! Just got the 1001RB II and I have seen the light! The 700 also bi-amps as well I think......
-
Just bought a GK Neo 212 II from Thomann. Ordered at 6.30pm Monday, arrived 2.45pm Thursday - that's quicker than sending something first class in the UK (I speak from bitter experiance!)
Great to deal with and I couldn't find any shop that would price match them - not that any of them had any GK stock. The cab cost £80 less than the cheapest over here. -
Bump for price drop and offer of postage. This has to go!!!!
-
My Alembic Exploiter - lifetime GAS for it... sold it to take the family on a dream holiday to coincide with the wife's 40th.
'The things we do for love.....'
However, to balance that statement, she OK'd me buying the B1 - so it ain't all that bad!
Still miss the Exploiter though..... -
Title says it all really.
Excellent condition, the model which incorporates the GK bi-amp feature and light at only 23kg - a cracking 2x10 which can also be used full range with any head by means of a 1/4" jack lead. The Speakon cable for bi-amping comes with it.
So, my esteemed Basschat colleagues - what might it be worth?
Cheers in advance. -
-
Yep. The amp would put out about 180W into the lone speaker, your mate could add another 8 ohm speaker to get the full 300W as well.
-
Should mention that this unit is also a preamp...
If anyone would like to read the manual to see just what this baby can do - here it is:

So this is how it feels when you finally get the best rig you can that suits your needs/sound?
A slight come down after the high; a realisation that trawling thru the 'for sale' sections means nothing anymore; hours given back to you that you can spend doing something else instead of constantly being on Basschat attempting to get to the bargains first - yet somehow feeling that it's a waste of time.
Anyone else get 'the shakes'? -
Wow! A real treat! - Always wanted to try one of these on bass but never had the chance. I understand you can mix both SS and Valve preamps together. Have you tried this and were you able to maintain bass bottom end when using distortion patches?
Never knowingly mixed the two, I pretty much used Factory settings - there are a 100 on there ( I think), so a good sound wasn't hard to find!
Each patch can be eq'd, so I never had any problem with getting bass....
Digitech 2120 For Sale - gotta go!
