If you're anything like me you won't be able to sleep tonight.
Thanks! I've had one bass for 26 years, and now the Shuker makes two. I reckon I'm due another in 2035 - and my wife would probably agree with that. You're right though, 4.30 tomorrow can't come soon enough.
 2.
Is that the singlecut that's the same pickup configuration as mine (the hybrid Delanos) and 7 piece wenge/paduak neck? If so, that's an astonishingly good bass, even by Jon's standards. The neck is fantastic. I've played it a couple of times when I've been up there, and it was this bass that made me decide on the Delano hybrid system. Give Jon a call, and pop over to give it a try! Buying from stock you will get an excellent deal on price as well - cheaper than a build to a new spec.
Well now, Simon, I blame you for me being a lot poorer but very excited. I went to Jon's workshop on Tuesday, and as you said, the singlecut 4 stock bass looked and played like a dream, and I go back to pick it up tomorrow night. No need to post pics as it is on Jon's website - www.shukerguitars.co.uk the 6th one in the stock section, in imbuya with a satin finish. Hope the family don't want to see much of me this weekend... Thanks to you and the other Shuker fans on basschat - I knew nothing about Jon and his amazing basses before joining up.

I'll try and get there this week - I'm only in Leeds. Thanks for the recommendation - I'll let you know how I get on.
 4.
Thanks for all the comments! Fletchbass - Jon built this in about ten months. Actual waiting time depends on the complexity of the build i think. If you want things like non-standard body shape, non-standard electronics, or through neck etc i think its likely to be longer!
Thanks Simon. I like the look of the white jazz you mentioned. Did you see the single cut bolt-on 4 that is also in the stock section of the website? Although my birthday isn't until January, I've got some (for me) important stuff to do in June so if I really liked a stock bass I've got permission to get it early!
 5.
I think the wait can vary, but I'd allow about 12 months(ish) to be safe. If you let Jon know you have a big deadline on it, like your 50th, I'm sure he'd make the extra effort to make sure you get it in time Cheers, Eude
Thanks for the tip. Sounds like I need to get along there sharpish - what a chore!
 6. That is gorgeous. Great choice of everything. I must get along to Jon Shuker's to have a look and a play. I've got until January 2010 to choose a fretted IV for my 50th birthday - anyone know what the typical wait is for a Shuker?
 7. Thanks - and yes, she is. She knows I want a fretted and she wants to buy me a special one for my 50th birthday in a year's time. She got worried when she saw me trying an ok but nothing special job in a guitar shop and had to tell me her plans to stop me buying it. Now I've got a year to choose it.
 8. You have to wait, surely, at least until you have some idea how long the Wal will be.
 9. There are some really spectacular Wals on this thread. Mine is not such a looker, but it is very special to me. Bought it Feb 83 from the man himself, with money left me by my Grandad - folks expected me to buy a car but I knew what I wanted. It's mahogany core with elm facings. Cost me £600 for cash including case - still got the handwritten receipt. Thought of selling it when times were hard with a young family 15 years ago but my wife wouldn't let me - I still thank her for that. It's absolutely wonderful and now I'm looking for a fretted companion for it - it will be my 50th birthday present. Another Wal will be too pricey - what would you guys look at instead these days? I've never played a fiver but wouldn't mind having a go. There's a gorgeous looking Shuker single cut 5 on this site for £900 - seems a good deal?
 10. My first ever BC post was a bit of a disaster (see above). Wish my fingers were always that fast... Another Yorks based bass - Selby area, although really a southern softie. Will be prowling the gear for sale threads as I am promised a dream bass for my 50th - I've got a year to choose it!
