  1. Hello again, i have been a member for 10 years. I stopped learning when i had a few surgeries on my shoulder back in 09 . Well for christmas the Missus bought me an Ibanez SR300EL bass and told me to start learning again :D . My bass i had back then got blagged by one of the sprogs and they learned to play as well in the meantime

  2. a quick tech question for anyone who may know
to practice making an amp i have purchased the vellermann 200w power amp kit and i am gonna use it on the wifes electric piano to save her plugging it into my hifi. has anyone built one of these before. going by the plans i can add a volume control to the input and adjust the gain from an onboard pot, but are there any other mods that can be done like adding a treble control and such like????

  3. it is actually a nice looking bass all joking aside

is the jack plug mounted differently to most (i noticed in the guitar shop you had to pull the plug down to remove it ) i suppose it stops unwarranted noise cessation when you tread on the cable

  4. no dont...
ive been muddling along with some books and really finding it hard. i read a thread on here earlier today saying to play music in the background so i tried it this morning using one of the funk samples. after a few slow starts i remembered where the fingers go and finally got the metronome from 80 to 120bpm. whilst it is probably not what the samples are for it helped me. oh and i am not moving like an automaton now either the head is bobbing and the foot is tapping :)
    many thanks
off now to thank the sample poster

  5. as long as you also start the i bought a cheap fender copy and tried to flog it on ebay as fleas personal guitar or IBACFCATTFIOEAFPG :)

funnily enough my dad was a council binman in the 70`s and over the course of 5 or 6 years brought home fender guitars about once a year that just happened to have been thrown out (of course my mum didnt know there was a guitar shop on his route that did layaway

  6. Is there any difference between a lefty or the other type when setting up a bass. When i purchased the bass on here the strings had been lowered, as i have now started learning i am getting a lot of problems with them hitting the other frets. A shop local to me in port talbot wanted 20 quid just to plug it in and listen.
The only reason i ask is because other left hand specific items i own have different set-up and adjusting techniques compared to the other type

    cheers
    jamie
