  1. Vintera has more vintage specs including a wider nut than the Player. More vintage fret wire as well. The Vintera replaced the Classic series of MIM basses. Both the Player and Vintera series sound good and it boils down to personal preference. You will need to play both to get a sense of which works for you.

The MIJ Precisions, well that depends on which model. The have more variety in their specs and they generally are a great value with excellent build quality.

    Arrived this morning!

Lovely bass and that buttery maple neck is gorgeous!
only had a quick run through plugging into my computer and recording a line for the track I’m doing but it’s an instant improvement on my mex std jazz.

Looks great! I have one in sunburst inbound for Monday. I hope you enjoy this one for quite some time.

No, quite enjoying the geddy B/W aesthetic.

I’ve had 2 GL jazz basses…sold when chasing other gear…

The Japanese one I had was black, and a bit weighty. The Mex one I had was mega light and sunburst.

Reckon another Black one might be on the cards…

now…what to do with this stuff…4D9A4D0F-45AA-4F76-AF13-86B25BFF186C.thumb.jpeg.5e6ef3b28c4c17a221e7421da14534ef.jpeg

I had a Japanese GL and also found it a bit weighty. Sounded great but had to go.

That white body would look good with either a maple fretboard and black pickguard (think Dee Dee Ramone) or a very dark fretboard and a mint or brown tort guard. Either looks like you have another interesting project on your hands.

Yep. Really good fun and just has the sound that I grew up with. Love the satin neck, also the way it sits on the strap. Not too heavy either.

It’s the first PJ I actually liked. For all the above reasons plus the jazz pickup is very well matched to the precision pickup. I never run the jazz pup full but use it to add spice.

  5. Congratulations on your new bass. I don’t know the ratio of the Fender tuners but I do know that HipShot HB6 are a drop in replacement that are a big improvement. I have a Player Precision in the same colour as your Jazz and it is getting the HipShots. I also replaced the white pickguard with a black one. Looks much better.

For degreasing I use Goo Gone and it works wonders on a maple board or for removing stickers residue on the body. Make sure you follow the instructions on the bottle. Use a Q-Tip or soft cloth when cleaning the board to avoid scratches.  I bet someone here will have a good home remedy that can be used as well.

    Enjoy the bass!

I’m down to 2 now but the ‘Squier’ has done about 200 gigs with me now. It’s like a pair of comfy slippers. Don’t try a JMJ.....it’ll make you want to buy one big time.7DF69F57-1170-41B1-AA98-C97A10AC54DD.thumb.jpeg.8884e15b0324077cc425d07f6f15b514.jpeg

A lot of truth in the statement on the JMJ
