1. Behringer GDI DI box is a great budget DI box. Although, the DI20 (dual di box) is crap - bought 2, one had to be scrapped as it starting humming really badly.

I had a behringer rack tuner which struggled to tune the low E on my bass. Now have korg tuner - way better.

Had behringer bass V-amp pro, was good but I got fed up with the sounds. Also had a behringer FCB1010 which was built like a tank and was brilliant.

Got a behringer mixer, but had to send off first one due to whole unit failing. Have a second one but built in Fx units are knackered.

Using a behringer headphone amp which is hissy and nasty.

It's hit and miss, but personally I now avoid most behringer stuff as you just end up wasting money. I'll stick with the DI boxes though for our guitarists but I'll stick with my MXR M80 for bass!

  2. It sounds like you've already ordered some, but I've ordered a few sets of these and think they are great as budget IEM's. Way better than I was expecting.

    Meelectonics M6 headphones.

Amazon listing them as 'sports headphones' doesn't really do them justice. Website is here:

  3. Original post now updated. System will include all components to get you up and running. I will also set up the frequencies so that they will work on channel 70 for you.

It worth noting that the entire systems (belt pack and receiver) are made out of very sturdy metal casing and are very rugged. The power buttons are soft buttons (hold down the power on the pack and it quietly shuts down). Compared with the freeport systems we have which 'pop' through the speakers when you turn them off with a slide on/off switch.

  4. UPDATED TO NOW INCLUDE MISSING COMPONENTS

I have for sale a Sennhieser EW100 G1 Wireless systems.

System comprises of a belt pack transmitter with aerial and a half rack sized receiver.

The system is in very tidy condition and tuneable to wide range of frequencies (including channel 70 - free legal channels).

The system NOW COMES with a power supply for the receiver and the receivers aerials. It can be used as wireless guitar systems, or for microphones such as a tie mic or headset mic. A guitar cable will also be NOW INCLUDED.

We have a few of these systems and also some freeport systems and these ones are far superior in terms signal strength and quality.

I am looking for £140 ONO + postage (which I guess will be about £5)

  5. Back to the original question, anyone used one of these? http://www.artproaudio.com/products.asp?type=89&cat=15&id=139. If you look at the manual (figure 5) it has a hookup diagram showing exactly what I was originally trying to do. I'm wondering if the direct outs (or in my case the insert loop (with a modified cable) comes before or after the channel gain or a mixing desk. Will they have a higher output than the subgoup outs?

@leftybassman - keyboard player is definately the starting point. will see how we get on from there! I'm managed to pursuade him to get a nice set if in ear headphones, but he is now saying that he might not bother using them? We'll see how that one goes...

  6. Thanks for all of the replies. To answer a few specific questions...

Our keyboard player used a Yamaha CP300. It has XLR outs built in, which are sent to the desk. The issue with the keyboard is that it also has quite powerful built in speakers, which depending on how the keyboard player is feeling, can be overpowering compared to the main mix. The intention was for him to turn off the built in speakers and just use in-ears. The keyboard volume then starts the guitarist off who will turn up as he is struggling with the amount of keyboard noise on stage.

I'm thinking that grouping the mixes for now would be a good compromise. In the future we are hoping to upgrade our desk with this one (http://www.allen-heath.com/uk/Products/pages/ProductDetails.aspx?catId=ZEDSeries&ProductId=ZED420&SubCatId=) which has some more routing options.

I also like the idea of a sub mixer, will have a look into that one.

  7. Thanks for all the replies. Here is a bit more information about our band/gear.

On a average setup we are an 8/9 piece band. Drummer, Bass, Acoustic Guitar, Keyboard, Electic Guitar, Lead Vocals and up to 3 backing vocals.

Our desk has 2 aux outputs plus 2 FX sends.

We can't use wireless systems for in ear that mo because were already using all of the 4 free channel 70 frequencies for wireless mics.

The long term plan was to put the backline (drums, bass, keys and acoustic guitar) on wired in ears and set up a wireless system of in ears for the rest of the band (when we can afford to move our wireless mics over to digital to free up some frequencies).

So without going out and buying a new desk with more aux channels, were stuck with only 2 auxes. Also the system needs to be simple to set up as we have a limited time to pack up / tear down, so I don't really want to start putting extra stuff on stage such as small mixers for band members.

  8. Not sure if this is the right place for this question, but does anyone use wired in-ear monitors with their band.

We have a 4 channel behringer headphone amp (on loan until I can afford a better one!) We use aux2 on our desk to provide an overall headphone mix to the input on the headphone amp (via a compressor/limiter). This works great as there is a volume control and level meter so it easy to get it to this right level.

I also want to add "more me" inputs onto each of the 4 headphone channels, so each band member can have a personalised mix. I want to do this at the desk end of the multicore as I'm sending the headphone signals down the returns on the multicore onto the stage (that way the person on the desk can mix the headphone levels).

I have tried sending other outputs from the desk into the aux inputs on the headphone amp, but they are really quiet so it is impossible to blend properly between the aux send from the desk and the individual instrument signals.

I'm using a subgroup output for one of the instrument signals (a mixed down drum signal) and was planning on using direct out from the other channels on the desk. Do I need to be running the direct outs/subgroups into a preamp before the headphone amp. If so, can you get a 4 channel rack preamp that would be suitable for this job? It doesn't need to have much control like a full blown mic preamp channel.

I know it's not exactly bass specific, but does anyone have a good answer?

  9. Up for sale is some old PA gear from our church. It has been sat around unused for a couple of year. I've had it all out the other day and tested that it is working....

Peavey Eurosys PA Speakers (Black Carpeted ones) - £40 for Pair SOLD
Very tidy looking speakers. Working well. Each speaker is rated at 8ohm and has 2 jack inputs. Not sure what the output rating of the speakers is but we regularly ran them happily off the mixer in this listing. The are very tidy looking and probably need a hoover.

Peavey PA Speakers - Not sure of model name (Plastic Casing) - £40 for Pair SOLD
These speakers are also rated at 8ohms. The grills are looking a bit shabby now and probably need a coat of paint to clean them up. They are however great speakers (i prefer them to the eurosys speaker - better clarity on higher frequencies. They are however heavier than the eurosys ones. They have a pair of jack inputs and a pair of speak on inputs.

Soundcraft Spirit Powerstation Powered Mixing Desk - £50 SOLD
This desk has 8 mono inputs plus 2 pairs of stereo inputs. I have tested all of the mono input and they are working fine. The desk has built in lexicon effects and 2 graphic eq's for the left and right channels. It will come in one of the 2 cases show in the pictures (the one with the string holding the lid up!)Now for the bad stuff:

The fader on channel 1 is bent (see pic) it still works perfectly though.

One of the knobs of the FX section is missing.

The plastic nut from the left input jack on the second stereo channel is missing (still works)

Some of the faders/knobs are scratchy and in need of a good clean

The right hand output on the built in power amp DOES NOT WORK. The left channel works fine if all you need is mono. (We used to daisy chain 2 speakers into the left and pan everything over to the left output) - You can also run it as a passive desk and connect it up to a separate power amp
It has served us well, but really need someone who is prepared to give it the love and attention it deserves!

Wooden flight case - £10 SOLD
Flight case designed to fit a sound craft mixer (above). We used to have 2 but got rid of one of the mixers. It is well used but sturdy.

    Inside of case...

    540mm x 460mm

    Bottom is 95mm deep
    Lid is 70mm deep
    Making a total of 165mm

There is approximate 12mm of foam on all sides (making the inside of case if you removed the foam 564mm x 464mm etc)

Assorted mic clips - 10 remaining - £3 each posted or £25 for all 10 of them
Various mic clips. one have the metal thread insert in them, some don't. All are normal mic clips. All designed for SM58 sized mics except for one that seems a bit smaller.

I would prefer collection for all of the larger stuff, although a courier could be arranged at buyers expense. I'm guessing somewhere between £10 and £20 depending on the item.

  10. Yamaha RBX374 Red - [s]£125[/s] £100 SOLD

I have for sale my Red Yamaha RBX 374. I've owned it form new for about 3 years and it is in pretty good condition, except for a couple of things.

When changing the battery one day, I dropped a new one on to the face of the body (actually the first time I used it - was a bit gutted at the time) Anyway, it has left a small ding which can be seen in the photos. It is not really obvious unless you know it's there.

Second thing is that the back of the neck is painted black. On the underside of the neck some black paint has worn off and you can see the wood of the neck underneath - it looks a bit messy, but you can't see it unless you turn the bass upside down! I wear a thick wedding ring, which caused the problem.

These are the only two problems I can think of, other than that it's in great condition. Has always been well looked after, has been set up by myself and has a brand new battery. I will also include a pair of black strap locks that I fitted to the bass as soon as I got it. It has lived in my spare room in hard case (not included) so has a nice straight neck.

It is strung with a set of Rotosound strings. I will also throw in some more spare Rotosound strings (2 x 40's, 2 x 60's and 1 x 100 gauge) if you want them.

Reason for sale - It's been my backup bass for the last 2 years, since I bought a jazz bass on these forums. When my jazz played up the other week I got this bass out and realised that I don't like the tone as much as my jazz. So the plan is to get rid of this one and get a second jazz bass when I can afford it.

Would prefer collection from Louth in lincolnshire. Although I could possibly arrange for it to be collected from Sheffield or Wakefield if that is more convenient.

  11. The chrome control plate on my Classic Vibe jazz has gone really cloudy and looks terrible. I've already taken the plate off as I needed to replace the jack socket. So, I've tried cleaning the control plate with various household products - vinegar/water, toothpaste, mr muscle oven cleaner etc. Nothing is cleaning it up. Next idea was brasso but I don't want to waste money on it if it won't work.

I've also looked at buying a genuine fender control plate, but after a bit of reading on the internet, am concerned that it wont line up properly with the squier pickguard - don't have the money to replace everything!

Any suggestions? Is there something that will definitely clean it up? Are there after market chrome plates that are designed for a squire?
