If money is not an issue, I would suggest a Serek Midwestern 2 with Serek Singles pickups. If you’re into the Mustang shape, I’ve seen the Atelier Z BabyZ which is an active/passive jazz monster of a Mustang. That one is quite cheap as well (less than a grand on Reverb used).

I can highly recommend Glen at Axion Custom Works in Bury, Manchester. Beautiful pickguards!

I’d like another Serek Midwestern (this time with a B-90!) or a Wilcock Mullarkey.
-
Hatfield and The North - The Rotters Club. Richard Sinclair’s tone is absolutely extraordinary and he sings beautiful while playing as well. Such a great band from the Canterbury scene.
-
Thanks, Dazed, but that is not the Mullarkey. I think that’s simply called the MM cause of the pickup.
-
The Wilcock basses look absolutely stunning. How do they compare to Sereks? Does anyone have a Mullarkey for sale, by any chance?

My wife does not mind new basses as long as they are surf green, daphne blue or other pastel colours.

This makes me more excited for mine, but also more frustrated because I probably won't get it til January 2023 😭
Great! How long is the wait now? -
Old Hagström basses from the 60’s almost always had necks like broomsticks. Check them out if that is your thing!

It is inspired by the Epiphone Coronet guitar and Newport bass seen to the gumbyesque body shape and pickguard, for sure. In terms of playability this is - dare I say - way better though. Here’s another pic of my bass from the Serek factory floor: It plays like a dream, weighs less than 3kg and sounds incredible. Another beast than my JMJ and P-bass. I highly recommend all short scale fans contemplating whether to purchase a slightly more expensive bass to order one (if low output thump is what you need)!- 12

Yay - congrats! I bet it sounds great through your TKS cabs!😀

Thanks for tagging me, guys. I’m afraid it is just a bit too pricey for me, especially so considering the import duties and taxes and all (thanks Brexs*it!). The bass is lovely though!

Oof!! These are one of my top 2 drive pedals for bass.
If I didn’t have the other one I’d have had this in a heartbeat. 😄It is beastly, indeed! A true gem!

Up for grabs is a one-of-a-kind boutique distortion pedal - the Z.Vex Basstortion. This particular pedal is built in Minneapolis, Minnesota 8.16.13 and hand-painted. The serial number read A-16. It delivers a great SVT like tone and works great! The pedal has never left the house since I bought it and looks like new.
It will ship in the original box (without external power supply).
Price: £180 shipped.
Possible trades: Cali76 Compact Bass, 3Leaf Audio Octavbre, 3 Leaf Audio Doom 2, WM Smalls Pork & Pickle, Barefaced Machinist- 1

Thanks! I am, indeed, just interested in the ”real deal” this time.
Lovely bass - good luck with the sale, tom1946!
-
Sold to Germany (outside Basschat)!
-
You've got (basschat) mail!
-
Thanks! It is a lovely bass, indeed.
I forgot to mention that I am not open for trades at the moment. The bass is listed at Reverb as well. Feel free to buy it there in case you prefer the safety of paying through their arrangement rather than PayPal invoice etc. Send me a message with your BC nickname if you do.
Cheers,
Owno

Yes - a 10 month wait, but the basses are so good!
