Hi Ed, thanks, very useful insight. For £35 the Behringer 2200 seems like a good deal. If it turns out that it’s not great or isn’t very effective then I can just flog it on.

That “Recording Strip” looks interesting although I’ve not heard of SubZero. Given their low prices I am going to explore the Behringer and DBX ones as I don’t need anything expensive or amazing. Has anyone had any direct experience with either or both of them?

Yes I think the 2200 is discontinued. The one I’m watching is about £35 delivered and at that price I don’t think you can go wrong!

Hi all I’m considering adding a compressor to my setup, it doesn’t need to be anything particularly flashy or amazing and ideally it should be 1U rack mountable as I have a spare space in the rack - plus I don’t use pedals! Just wondering what people would recommend? There’s some good deals to be had on eBay at present including a Behringer Composer Pro MDX 2200, Citronic CL22, a Behringer Autocom Pro XL MDX 1600, and a DBX 266XL. Morning all i was introduced to this forum by Paul Walsh after I saw one of his posts on FB warning people about the now infamous scammer Mick Mason. I had nearly been one of his victims, but fortunately I did get a refund after much hard work. Thought I’d introduce myself properly: - from Teignmouth in South Devon - been playing bass for nearly 20 years. - was in the rock band Talula between 2005 and 2009 and toured with some big acts including Senser, The Stranglers, and Muse. - For about 5/6 years I’ve been playing in a function band called The California Calling (http://www.thecaliforniacalling.co.uk) and through an agency. - I have a custom-made bass built to my specification in 2006 by Tim Stark, Luthier at the famous Manson’s Guitar Works in Exeter. Pic attached. - Gear wise, I have been using an Ashdown MAG C115-300 combo paired with a MAG 210T Deep cab for over 10 years, but I am now selling this as going back to a setup I used when in Talula, a Tech 21 Sansamp RBI preamp through a decent power amp. I’m in the process of buying a Trace Elliott 1015H 800w cab to go with them. - Main bass influences are Mike Dirnt (Green Day) and Bernard Edwards (Chic) - I’m also an acoustic guitarist and vocalist and am in the process of developing my set for weddings/functions. Pleased to be here and meet you all!

No worries Bert. Fortunately I got my refund, but clearly many others didn’t and I want to help to ensure he doesn’t get away with this.

Also I forgot to say that after refunding me Mick had the audacity to send me a friend request on FB!

Ok no worries, I just wanted to make sure not being associated with scammers like Mick!

I’m very much legit and feel a bit miffed to have been mentioned in this way. I contacted Paul Walsh following one of his posts on FB and he directed me here. I have screen shots showing my conversations with Mick.

Can I just check what, if any, action has been started to raise this with two relevant authorities as I would be pleased to assist by providing evidence. Hi all, I have recently had dealings with Mick Mason and, whilst I eventually got a refund, I was convinced it was a scam, particularly as I found details of his previous fraud case online! i am happy to share my story, including screen shots of the messages, and if anyone is going to the Police I am happy to assist.
