I'v started to buy stuff to make my own Gibson RD bass, but i am a bit unsure of what adhesive to use for

glueing the body up. which are 3 planks for maple.

the neck into the body. I have bought a Gibson kalamazoo neck, which is a set in neck.

fingerboard onto the neck.

been looking around a bit more.
and while looking for stuff to do up my epi t-bird, i came across the seymour duncan SSB4's passive, and the blackouts, active.
anybody know about these?

For the last few years they have been selling NOS Gibson parts - from when the Kalamazoo factory closed. For at least a year they had loaded RD Standard scratchplates (2 pickups) for not too much money. They may still have some left. They don't list all of what they have got usually.

I bought one (for a rainy day), as did many others - so it might be worth asking around a few other (american) forums in case anybody bought one and now doesn't need it. I've seen at least one custom made RD using these pups.[/quote]

I should probably have said the sound is just as important as looks . I didnt want to use anything like p or j pickups, i hate the look of them on a gibson bass.

the dimarzio's looks pretty good, albiet a little big.

i'm probably thinking to big here
I'v been mulling with the idea of putting my joinery skills to the test, and trying to do my own build of a Gibson RD standard/ artist bass.

I want some nice sounding pickups. of course, using real gibson pups would be expensive and hard to find!
So what are some good alternatives?
Preferably styled like the ones on the RD.

I'v spotted there on all-parts tho, what do you chaps think?

i'm supprised they havnt reissued the G-3
the ripper now been re issued 3 times, 2 times by Epiphone, and once by Gibby.
Gibson now chosen to re do the grabber, at a ok price, but you could get a g-3 for around the same price.
It was superior to the grabber and ripper, , with modern ways, it could sound even better, and be very popular.

i'v been thinking, what would happen if one modified and Epiphone Ripper, to take g-3 pickups.
route out a bit of the body, make a new scratch plate.
Would it give a g-3 sound.

twas fretless when i had it, the shop had it fretted

I picked up a G3 for £350 about 4 years ago, bargain it was, got it from Germany. It was fretless which made it odd to play, but sounded like nothing els, was fantastic!
I now kick myself very hard for being a nob and trading it in for a bass with the value fo £350, so didnt make a loss, but could have made a big profit, All aside, i wish i had kept it.

Funnily enough i found the new owner on youtube, [url="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jDzJk_FT7_s"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jDzJk_FT7_s[/url] g-3 sound is music to my ears, ...depsite being slightly out of tune...

I know it wouldnt go a long way to buying anything new, but it would be a start. And i have a couple of guitars to sell sometime. those things are just to damn small and fiddley.

How much are the Laney DP 100 amps worth? in good condition, all works.

I would quite like to sell it and get a line 6 LD150.
