1. I tried out a pf500 in andertons today.
I dno if it was the head or cabs, but something didnt sound right.
Frist through a tc electronic 410, which sounded a bit sterile.
then through an ampeg b 410, which sounded to honky, and middy.

tried the 350 through an ashdown 112. thats was pretty good.

also tried the micro cl, and that gave me nearer the sound i wanted!

2. Thanks dudes

I think thats a wise choice, to try some out.
Planned on going down to the local shop to try out some. Not a great selection but got some i like.

The aquilar cabs alone are about my budget for a whole setup!
Im sure they are great tho

Im in love with the tone here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L0M9CUppC1Y
i believe hes using a svt 400. theres a fender BXR bass amp on the rig as well. but not sure if its being used.
mesa cabs.

3. So im in need of a new amp, my laney dp100 keep cutting out, and doesn't go quite loud enough.

Il mostly be playing my Gibbons RD artist, which i lvoe as it gives me the grunty top end i want.

A couple of heads i have been looking at are
Ampeg portaflex 500
Ashdown mag 600 http://www.andertons...mag410t-cab.asp
Aquilar tonehammer 350 or 500

Lightweight, larger, or valve?

then cabs might be best?
somthing 4x10

what do you folks think?
It doesnt have to be new, any secondhand ones i might look out for?

cheers!

4. GAK has them listed for 320 at the mo.
sale price i presume

but got it price matched at andertons.

no neck dive at all!
the position of the strap button comes on the back which helps.
the neck seems thinner on this than the normal thunderbird iv, so less weight

one thing im not overjoyed with is the headstock colouring.
i wanted the recessed bit around the edge to be a definite brown, but its very black.
other than that its a proper job

5. If you ever fancied selling the leccys.
you know where to come ;)

could do with some for my build

but youd be crazy to do so.

how about some SDG guitar sized humbuckers.
buy a NOS rd pickguard off flebay when the guys got them up again, and a little bit of modding to make them fit properly. (pups are smaller by about 2mm)

6. Andy Baxters always seem a bit costly :/
It would be cheaper for me to buy this one from the usa, pay postage and import!

7. Iv given the one in Andertons a good thrash a few times, and its a pretty awesome thing. sounds the nads.

But for the money i would rather buy a secondhand artist.

He seems to really make his artist growl nicely in this gig

8. big want!
but for the moeny id rather buy a secondhand RD Artist.
and i wish they had made it 34 1/2" scale, as it was. not 34 "

Krist used a standard ocasionally, which he put some jazz pickups in.
