1. Iv given the one in Andertons a good thrash a few times, and its a pretty awesome thing. sounds the nads. But for the money i would rather buy a secondhand artist. He seems to really make his artist growl nicely in this gig www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ee6xkwVucIE www.youtube.com/watch?v=t2WHuYIb1kI
2. Paid £20 6 years ago to have a Gibby g3 shipped over from Germany. Probably cost the same to ship it down the road!
3. talking about an Artist reissue. INstead of having all that moog circuit boards. wouldnt there be a more modern way around it. all that stuff inside could probably be reduced to a few small boards and chips.

8. big want! but for the moeny id rather buy a secondhand RD Artist. and i wish they had made it 34 1/2" scale, as it was. not 34 " Krist used a standard ocasionally, which he put some jazz pickups in. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3limq8huF80 and more recently http://youtu.be/WYy8hz-7Cqw
9. It is a pretty classy inlay. a bit hard to replicate...
10. ahh, thats interesting to know. thanks. I'l stick to a wooden veneer. tho slightly anoying that the heads slightly over 8" long
11. ok, cool, cheers guys. I'v got a gibson neck for my homebuild RD artist that needs somthing ontop of the head, i have some ebony but maybe thats a bit nice to paint black..
12. Does anybody know what the finish on Gibson bass headstocks is. e.g. RD artist, ripper etc I assume its an ebony veneer/ top, but you can never see any grain. jsut a straight black finsih . Is it painted? cheerz Andy

14. I would have thought normal pva might be a bit weak.. maybe not tho.
15. Hi I'v started to buy stuff to make my own Gibson RD bass, but i am a bit unsure of what adhesive to use for glueing the body up. which are 3 planks for maple. the neck into the body. I have bought a Gibson kalamazoo neck, which is a set in neck. fingerboard onto the neck. thanks Andy
16. been looking around a bit more. and while looking for stuff to do up my epi t-bird, i came across the seymour duncan SSB4's passive, and the blackouts, active. anybody know about these?
17.
Email this ebay seller http://stores.ebay.com/Greatdealz1967 For the last few years they have been selling NOS Gibson parts - from when the Kalamazoo factory closed. For at least a year they had loaded RD Standard scratchplates (2 pickups) for not too much money. They may still have some left. They don't list all of what they have got usually. I bought one (for a rainy day), as did many others - so it might be worth asking around a few other (american) forums in case anybody bought one and now doesn't need it. I've seen at least one custom made RD using these pups.
ohh, sounds interesting. thanks. messgae sent
18.
You could check out the John Birch Hyperflux's on Ebay just now*; they'll cover the strings no matter what the spacing & have a very wide frequency range, he used them in guitars or bass. I've got JB Magnums in an SG bass - and an SG Junior. If you're interested check that they're the old style ones; P90 shape, not the newer PAF ones and that they have their rings/frames if you need them? They should look like this ..... * I have no connection with the seller or the auction.
thanks for the headsup. They look very nice. shall keep my eye on them
19. Thank you! thats a great help I should probably have said the sound is just as important as looks . I didnt want to use anything like p or j pickups, i hate the look of them on a gibson bass. the dimarzio's looks pretty good, albiet a little big.
20. Howdy doody i'm probably thinking to big here I'v been mulling with the idea of putting my joinery skills to the test, and trying to do my own build of a Gibson RD standard/ artist bass. I want some nice sounding pickups. of course, using real gibson pups would be expensive and hard to find! So what are some good alternatives? Preferably styled like the ones on the RD. I'v spotted there on all-parts tho, what do you chaps think? 22. ----------- i'm supprised they havnt reissued the G-3 the ripper now been re issued 3 times, 2 times by Epiphone, and once by Gibby. Gibson now chosen to re do the grabber, at a ok price, but you could get a g-3 for around the same price. It was superior to the grabber and ripper, , with modern ways, it could sound even better, and be very popular. i'v been thinking, what would happen if one modified and Epiphone Ripper, to take g-3 pickups. route out a bit of the body, make a new scratch plate. Would it give a g-3 sound.
