Big surprise for me was Sam Sparro whose Black and Gold single I hate yet with Jools' band sounded amazing.
I thought thet was probably the best song of the show. I was really impressed with how it sounded compered with the synthy studio version which I'm not a bif fan of either.

 6.
Welcome and a Happy New Year to you !!
Cheers Tony, thinking of spending the day on the web to help waer ogff my hangover, then I might play a bit of bass later on.
 7. First post here - so plenty of opinions to share !! When I've played Muse songs in the past I've found a Woolly Mammoth and an EQ pedal gets me a decent 'live' sound. Plus a trouch of compression really brings out that big Muse bass sound. I find a Fuzz Face type fuzz more accurate than a big muff type fuzz for the bass parts. I'm guessing the OP is wanting to recreate a Muse sound form playing live with band so I'd look at distortion / fuzz, EQ and compression. On the recorded albums there is no doubt all sorts of studio trickery going on, a mix of distorted / fuzzed tracks, a clean track and a synth track, plus plenty of EQing and other studio shenanigans. I read an interview with Matt Bellamy recently where he says a lot of the guitar parts are a mix of distorted guitars and distorted synths.
 8. First post here, and first post on this page on 2009. And Happ new year All !! Been playing bass for years and reading this forum quiet a bit, thought it's tiem to sign up. Currently playing a jazz bass through various fuzz pedals, no amp at the moment (sold it a while ago as I'm not gigging at present and using a Line6 Bass POD for home usage. Quite like using delays and loopers on bass too. Dan.
