  1. Very first bass 90s curtain haircuts and garage band. Was a Hohner "The Jack" Headless Bass. Bought off some fella in a pub carpark for £100 in 1997 I think! Sold it a few years later for £100. Should have kept it!!
  2. Glad I started this post as it's given me lots to think about and lots of tips so thanks all. I'm leaning towards a shoot out between Squier CV 70s P Bass or a Sire P5 - but the Alder Body/Roasted Maple Neck of the Sire is swinging me towards that! Unless a used Mexican P Bass comes along!
  3. Ah squier cv 70s. How you finding it.?
  4. I've just been looking at those, don't really know much about Sire but this seems to have a good spec. What are these like compared to the squier cv's?
  5. Thanks, yes appreciate depends on what want to do with it. Just rock stuff really. No jazz, funk, pop, blues
  6. Hi All, Apologies if this has been covered already. But wondering your thoughts on best bass for sub £400? Been looking at a few: Squier CV 60s / 70s P Bass? Squier Affinity? Sterling Sub Ray 4? Also seen a used Yamaha BB424x for £300 What would you get if you had £400?
  7. https://www.rimmersmusic.co.uk/vintage-vj74ssb-ejm96-bass-sunset-sunburst-p16588 Is that the Vintage VJ74 you mentioned?
  8. Have you got a link to the yamaha p bass for sale on here? Ta
  9. Thanks, yes it was a long time ago. Don't see many with the 1 EMG HZ pickup. Ones on ebay for £400+ don't think I paid that for it.
  10. Hi all, this is my first post! I've got the attached spector bass, bought in UK about 20 years ago! Think its a basic model. Sadly it's sat in garage for most of that time and needs probably £80 spent on it for a service and new strings. I've seen the attached Farida FJB20 jazz bass for sale for £250 and wondered if the extra £170 for this bass would give me something substantially better?
