  1. I went for a Faith Neptune Mahogony in a similar price range recently, and have been very happy with it. Very distinctive styling, really warm midrange tones due to mahogony, great tuner. Ebony fingerboard and quite flat, which is not to all tastes I suppose. I found the Yamahas a little more clinical in comparison, but it's always going to be a very personal choice. You do seem to get a lot of bang for your buck with Faith at the moment.

  2. *SOLD*

    Hi,
For sale 4/4 (I'm pretty sure), laminate, 5-string double bass from Gedo Music.
Around 3 years old and fitted with very nice Shadow pickup and pre-amp.
Gig bag included, but no bow.
Good tone for price, and low action; great for beginner or transition from electric.
    Going for £400.
Prefer pick up from Cambridge, or meet up within reasonable distance.
Cash or bank transfer please. Not interested in trades.
    Any questions just ask.
    Cheers,
    Andy

  3. **SOLD**
    Hi,
Having a bit of a New Year clear out (to make room for more stuff!)
This is a about 3 years old, and only gigged a couple of times. Mostly used around the house.
A couple of tiny dinks on headstock, but generally in great shape.
I don't think they're made anymore, but was around £350 new. Happy to take £150.
Good pre-amp, and nice warm and loud acoustic tone. Has built in good quality tuner.
Would prefer pick-up from Cambridge, or meet up within reasonable distance. Cash or bank transfer.
    Any questions let me know.
    Cheers,
    Andy

  4. Ah, one day I'll go back to Stingrays, but sadly today is not that day. Thanks for the offer though Julius.

I've had a request for some pictures of the side dot markers.... not the easiest things to capture but here is an attempt! Also some better quality images of the bass, on a very fetching fleecy throw (I've obviously missed my true calling as a photographer :)

  5. I used to be a trombone player, and this made sight reading on bass a doddle. I would consider getting a trombone grade 5+ book as it will have loads of sight reading practice stuff in, and the instrument range is very similar! The problem for me with bass transcription books is that they tend to be just basic bass lines, or jazz solo transcriptions that are unfathomable.
