  1. This bass line is not exactly the first slap bass in history. Larry played the low notes in his traditional way. In later years he played standard thump/pluck. I tried to imitate this technique in this recording. The same technique was used by Jamareo Artis in Bruno Mars' "Treasure".
  2. Which tone do you prefer more? I bought Sadowsky Blue Label Flatwound Strings 45-65-85-105 about 2 years ago. It was my first set of the flats, so I decided to get 45-105 gauge because it’s my favorite. However, I didn’t know that flats have higher tension than rounds. I liked their sound but used them very rarely due to the tension. So, around 6 months ago I bought Thomastik Jazz Flats 344 43-56-70-100. Now, I’m in heaven! They are so easy and inspiring to play. But apart from the “touch”, I put together how they sound side by side. Although, the Sadowsky flats are older, they were actually used less than Thomastiks in 6 months. I play Ernie Ball Music Man StingRay ash+maple from 2000. Flat EQ. Straight into Focusrite interface. Same groove. P.S. The Sadowsky flatwound strings are made by Labella, but I’ve read they are not the same as Sadowsky flats are more modern. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KLPQ5r-Afds
  3. Thanks! Actually, the repetitive lines are always my favorite!

  5. I was looking at the bass bridges at Thomann and I am wondering how's string stability with a Fender Vintage Bridge like this: https://www.thomann.de/pl/fender_vintage_bass_bridge.htm Do strings move or pop out of grooves when hard slapping?
  6. It should sound like stock, but with saddles stability! I may try it!
  7. This is the reason I went off the stock bridge. The saddle for E string moved while playing causing "flangery" sound.
  8. Stock bridge and Fender HiMass IV Bridge Brass sound comparison using Fender Jazz Bass ’75 Reissue MIJ 93/94 Alnico USA pickups with D’Addario EPS-165 Pro Steels 45-105. Which one do you prefer more?
