  1. Just sold a Status Bass to John. Great communications throughout, an absolute pleasure to deal with. I don't need to tell you all this as there's plenty of great feedback for this man but I would thoroughly recommend John and would have no hesitation in buying, selling or trading with him.

Thanks again John for a smooth transaction. Hope the reunion with your bass is a very happy one!

    Cheers

  2. I think any opinion to have usefulness in these situations needs perhaps plenty of info regarding the circumstance of the situation from which that opinion is formed I.e. what equipment was being used in conjunction with the amp, in comparison to what other equipment/combinations, what style of music etc etc. Otherwise you kind of just get - I thought it was poo...I thought it was great

    But hey whatever

  3. I don't think this is very helpfull to the OP

Real world experience is all that matters... it's not a rubbish amp obviously but a clever bit of design that may exhibit characteristics not to everyone's taste or style of playing..... like most amps in fact.

In answer to the original post, I've not found the sound to be particularly compressed outside of using the inbuilt compressor (I'm using the RH750 - but it's essentially the same amp with a bigger power stage) so whether that's good or bad for you I'm not sure, however I play covers and don't do much playing with particularly dynamic needs. For me it's greatest asset is its multi channel versatility and inbuilt bits and pieces plus it's small and light. Certainly worth trying one out.

  4. "Before this thread turns into another spec vs spec, I suggest the OP just tried it out, in a normal environment and not in a test vacuum which can change everytime they do"

Absolutely, the low end thing is all about what cab you're using and where in the room you are as much as the specs of the amp. With the AE212 it's way to much low end generally, so it's important to try - they are great amps if you want to travel light as pretty much everything you need is built in and the EQ frequencies for each pot can be tailored to your preference. I think the RH series does need plenty of twiddling before you really get the sound you want (unless you're very lucky or probably using TC cabs) but all the parameters are adjustable and hence it's a very versatile amp... just not the simplest to get on with at first I think.

  5. I might be being a bit slow but I can't quite understand what's been repaired.

Can you explain what the exact nature of the repair is? What happened to the bass and what has been done to rectify it, I'm quite interested in this but could just do with a bit more info.

    many thanks

  6. Hi all

I am looking for a new bass player to replace me in my current 4 piece covers band.

I’m leaving the band in September as I’m moving from Hampshire to Cheshire and as such  I thought I’d start looking now so someone has plenty of time to get up to speed with them before I leave.

They’re a great bunch of guys and I’m gutted to be leaving especially as we’re now getting a great set list together and excellent feedback from our gigs. We have 2 guitarists, drums and bass, they are all (excluding me of course) excellent musicians with eons of experience, they have their own PA and we often use a sound-man at gigs.

One of the guitarists is in Basingstoke, one in Camberley and the drummer in Newbury. Rehearsals are usually at SwerveJam in Basingstoke and gigs are anywhere reasonably local to all. We tend to be gigging once or twice a month so not too arduous a schedule. For what it’s worth the age range of the band is 30’s to 50’s but hopefully age shouldn't be important.

Below you’ll find a partial set list to give you an idea of the breadth of material we cover, our approach is to provide a wide ranging variety of songs that will hopefully appeal to the majority of punters and so far the feedback suggests we’re getting it reasonably right. Most of the gigs recently have been pubs but we’re hoping to do more private functions and historically the band has done weddings etc.

So.. looking for a competent, tight, fast learning bass player with own gear, transport etc. Backing vocals would be a bonus but lack of is not a deal breaker as I don't currently do BV’s. As a point of interest we do change the keys on some songs and I do use a 5 string to cope with this so may suit 5 string players more than 4, but again shouldn't be an insurmountable problem if you only play 4’s.

In the first instance please get in touch with me through here and then we can arrange auditions in the near future.

    Cheers

    Martin

  7. Just traded some cabs with Steve.

This is the second deal he and i have done and again it was a pleasure to do business, excellent comunications throughout. The gear was described as mint and was absolutely box fresh with not a mark on it. Steve obviously looks after his gear and if he says it's mint it is mint! We arranged to meet up at a services convenient to both of us and we were both early!

In short, Steve's a top chap to deal with - trade, buy or sell with total confidence.

    Cheers

  8. I'm thinking of getting some sort of lightweight 2x12 and giving up this excellent rig.

This is a bit of a feeler really and ideally I would sell both at the same time...also collection only as I dont have the boxes or the energy to ship these... sorry.

Both cabs were bought from Alex last year so I believe they are the latest versions of both. Both come with Roqsolid covers and are in excellent condition. One thing to note is that I have moved the Barefaced logo on the Midget so it reads horizontally when stacked on top of the Compact (just drove me mad when it was at the side...OCD I know!) it's been held in position with rubber solution glue so could conceivably be moved again, no damage or scratching to the grill occurred when I moved it.

I'm looking for £750 for the pair or £395 each (covers inc) if I can get two buyers lined up (firm prices no offers please).

I will post some pics if there's any interest over the next few days.

    Cheers

    Martin
