  1. This could be completely irrelevant but - I was playing a pub gig recently and using the same settings as with other gigs etc but it sounded like i was getting some distortion (harsh rasping tone) when we did a sound check. Now I always listen out front without ear protection when we do the sound check and it did sound harsh - however when i put my earplugs (etimotic thingies) in it revealed that everything was absolutely fine (simply too loud for the space)...my point being that it is sometimes very difficult to tell whats going on when playing at very high volumes as the human ear starts to give up and compress everything to noise with some frequencies becoming more prevelant than others.. and yes we did turn it down!

I realise that's probably not what's going on here but where the human ear is concerned i have noticed that when you turn things up they dont just simply get louder.

  2. I have been using a Boss ME 50 B and have been very impressed with it - a very good one box does all solution, it has an excellent range of compressor/limiter options, built in tuner, expression pedal and programable effects - pretty well does everything and there's a noise gate built in too. Well made and relatively inexpensive plus a fair few crop up second hand.

As it is i don't really use effects any more so mine's likely to be one of those that pops up in the for sale fairly shortly.

  3. I play in a covers band and this was the initial spur for me to play 5 string (transposed song keys and a number of songs that needed D or lower). However a blast of GAS for another ACG meant I have now started playing a 4 string again and whilst I have put a D tuner on to cope with some of the songs I am really enjoying it. I was getting a bit lazy on the 5 string and sat around the 5th fret playing everything without thinking (probably only a problem if you're playing standard covers stuff) - the 4 string has forced me to revisit the way I play, which is no bad thing.

  4. I use a Line 6 Relay G50, having tried several wireless units I concluded this was the best for me. I tried 2 other digital systems the Stageclix (very nicely made, but would need and extension cable to move the sender away from the guitar body if using an active, due to interference) and a Brace DWG (noisy, massive latency, loss of low end and ate batteries - but cheap).

Other big plus point with the Line 6 is the battery life and level indication is excellent so there's no chance of getting caught out with a loss of power.

+1 for dunlop strap locks - bomb proof and can be used with an ordinary strap in case of emergency

  6. Hiscox Liteflite Standard Electric guitar case, no major marks or scratches and interior is mint.

Best protection you can buy for the money!

This is one shaped for a Les Paul so it has a slightly sloping interior to accommodate the angled neck/body of such guitars.

£45.00 collected or can meet within a reasonable distance for a few quid. I really don't want to post this.

    Cheers

  8. Blackstar HT-VALVE DRIVE for sale, boxed - Mint condition £70.00 posted

    Blurb from Blackstar -

The HT-DRIVE has dual cascaded, high voltage, triode stages which deliver gain from warm boost to screaming valve saturation. The unique ‘A-Class’ tone control cuts the fizz without making your‘backed-off’ tone sound dull and lifeless. Add to this a no compromise speaker emulated output and you have the ultimate overdrive dream.

    Cheers

I'm quite interested in this as I'm find 4 strings on the lovely ACG not enough sadly - I'd have to sell it first though.
