Did anyone try the new shortscale bass from Ashdown?
Apparently, it's in its early stages. The info on their site is lacking. Body wood unknown, no full specs, pictures show 20 frets instead of 19 etc.
They had a few prototypes at the end of last year that they put on reverb, so there are are a few out there. I tried to buy a green one but due to a mix up missed out, waiting for them to come in, I think they were hoping to have them by now although not spoken to them about them for a while now.

I'm using some custom straps by Pinegrove Leather to ease the ache on my shoulder from my heavy basses.
https://www.pinegroveleather.com/
They aren't cheap but really great quality.
Another vote for Pinegrove from me, picked up another one at the recent Birmingham guitar show (also got a free leather cardholder they were handing out in the morning).

He was on one of the 1st Rockenteurs podcasts with Guy Pratt & Gary Kemp, and a great listen it is, they have also done a short tribute this week, seems Guy knew him quite well and it was due to this friendship he was on one of the 1st podcasts.

The only one I recognise is the bassist Kinga Glyk (in the hat)
Love this video of her playing Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go- 3

On BBC Alba the other night, and now on iPlayer.
Barrowlands Roar, a potted history of the Barrowlands venue in Glasgow. Is a touch Scottish Trad music, not a surprise as it's on BBC Alba, and some subtitles but a good program.- 1

I reckon they must read this thread:
'We have a brand new website coming by the end of the Summer '!
They don't say which Summer however...
Just read that this morning 😂

A little way off, but Biffy Clyro in November.

As a newish bedroom player very much so for me.
I have 4 basses only 1 was a that's cheap and looks okay purchase (Harley Benton PB-20 SBK) (2nd bass I bought)
the other 3 were all about favourite bands and players.
Hofner Ignition - Obviously McCartney (my 1st bass and not a good choice for a 1st Bass IMHO)Bass centre Betsy - Who else than Guy Pratt
MM Stingray - Rory MacDonald from Runrig.

Nick Mason's Saucerful of Secrets,
Birmingham Symphony Hall, April 22, 2022
This was booked 2½ years ago, and sadly the friend who booked it died last year. So it was with mixed feelings, but huge anticipation, that his brother and I took our seats last night, right up in the grand tier of Symphony Hall.
Man- that was a heavy gig! Thunderous drums and phenomenal bass underpinning early Floyd played with more passion and energy than on any LP. Truly astonishing to hear, and the band so obviously enjoying being back on the road. Most of the set was as on the "Live at the Roundhouse" album, but with 'Candy and a Currant Bun', 'Saucerful of Secrets' and 'Echoes'. Hard to pick out any one song, but Guy Pratt's bass break in the middle of 'See Emily Play' was unexpected and superb. The keyboards and guitar playing was of the highest order - and who would have thought Gary Kemp could rock, shred, and distort a guitar like that?
The sound was crystal clear, from the bass and toms though to the lightest shimmer of cymbals and gong. The occasional banter and introductions to songs were also hugely entertaining, Nick sounding like Radio 4 and the rest of the band gently ribbing him about his being born in Birmingham.
I would see them again in a heartbeat.
I was also there and 'Echo' your comments. The interaction amongst the band is good and you see guys playing because they are enjoying it, also clear that Nick and Guy are the the 2 mainstays and have known each other for a while, nice little bit of banter about Tony Hadley and Rogers Waters.
Whole gig started with Guy on bass on One of These days, and if you watch his lockdown licks eps 5 he explains how to play it.- 1

Barenaked Ladies at the RAH on Monday night, hopefully.
The 4 piece is down to 2 at the moment as they continue the tour, hopefully they will be back up to 4 by Monday.
KT Tunstall is one of the support acts and is one of the reasons for going to this particular gig.

A drummer mate of mine once managed to introduce an entire new range-topping Yamaha kit to the house by simply ensuring it was the same colour as his existing one.
I tried that with a Lotus Elise years ago, same colour, faster, higher spec etc, she noticed in 30secs.🤣🤣

I found a couple of little things with the coppers.
When the sergeant arrived he was told not to go on the roof due to weight limits, he was shown never going beyond the door.😄
Also, when they actually stopped playing the coppers had all gone, or at least they were no longer in sight. Wasn't sure but was it Mal that turned off the amps, before George and John switched them back on to finish.- 1

Currently watching it and loving it. So intimate, and the direction (both then and now) is beautiful.
The picture quality is also very good, it almost felt like it was brand new footage filmed this year with lookalikes.

Agreed, just watching it now and very enjoyable, amazing watching the process.

If you can find a 2nd hand Ashdown B-Social they are excellent, there is also the B-Social lite a lot rarer and smaller.
