  1. iv thought i was an average player, then u play with bands and there bass players great, and they come over and tell ur a great player and ur like Really!! or another was a band bigged em selves up,telling me 3 chord rock was dead...yea ok....telling me their bassest, wich was a chick, was a vertuoso and clasically trained playing a 7 stringer....i stood and watched them and thought...ok love u got another 6 strings to play with.....u play to ur abilaty then that becomes ur style....i had an interveiw with an online mag thing, they asked the other two in my band what their influences were, they rattled off loads....they asked me...i said hawkwind....they asked me my bass influences....i said harvey bainbridge, alan davey and lemmy...all hawkwind bassests...so iv taught my self to play by only listening to hawkwind!!! but now i try to play to middle of the road stuff pop pap,to see how "commercial"bass lines are built i play along to anything now,u dont have to like it,its the exercise,im in a techno rock band, but im looking for a singy bird type of band so i have some thing different to play.

  2. i got a 212 that i threw together,as a practice cab, used the dimentions from the ashdown site.im gonna compleately rebuild it,as i got a joinery co as a customer, but 2 things im thinking about,is to split the box with a central baffle, would this make the speakers more punchy?,also any benefit to wiring the speakers seperate, there 2 8 ohms,or the wiring makes no difference?
id fancey doing a cab for my 215s but wouldnt get a 40inch cab in our band battle barge....crysler voyager!!

  3. ok after watching totps xmas day,a lot of the singy birds seemed to have a "backing band"miming behind them, most seemed to be playing what looked tlike marcus miller fenders,or stingrays,410s or 810s..but just wondering what kind of heads the session bassests use?as for miming how does one get a gig doing this...as i am eyecandy!!!

  4. the laney is quite clean up to bout 1 n half, the 2 n over it starts ti distort, most of the time i dont turn up master,i dont really scoop but i have the 2 outer bass sliders up full also the 2 treble full the rest are set to compensate, the rehersal room is small.no drummer so we dont need it loud so im barley on a 1/4 on gain,so im begining to think that big amps dont go low? or maybe ss amps do? the mb450 has a horrible sound to my ears,i like subsonic bass, the marshall jmc 900 it distorts from about 4,but to get the volume of one on the laney the marshall valve needs to be 6!!

  5. i bout hartke 350 the other week took it back a week later!! its loud!! great sound, turned it up to 2 and fried a 15 inch speaker!!! the reason i took it back was i couldnt get it down low enough,at a 1/4 it was too fuzzy turned up too load as i dont have drummers to fight against....drum machines so i drowned everything,if i join a band with a drummer...yea id get another!

  6. no the 215s are what i reherse with at our studio and use to play live.....for bedroom practice iv only got 212s!!,think u might be right bout marshalls!!,i was thinking bigger the power the higher the vol curve....so smaller 150/200 watts may go to lower volumes as less powerfull?
