I would absolutely love it to be a G4M. As Geddy's Nose said earlier in the thread - that would be proper Punk Rock.

At first I thought he had a 4 ace card sticker but now I'm seeing somebody's face; could be my painkillers taking effect 😄

I tweeted Tony this morning who tells me it Japanese, plays great but didn't tell me the maker :(

Anyone gig with one of these regularly and at high stage volume?

I’m looking at a long scale semi hollow for a new venture, and as the Lakland on here has recently sold, I’m considering a JC.
Looking at and listening to reviews, the bass has a fairly good range of tone variation (although I tend to stick with the same tone settings throughout a set, varying finger position/attack to get some scope when needed, so not an issue).

My main concern would be possible feedback, given that it’s a hollow body without centre block.
So the question above is for those who play one at high band volume and your experiences.

    Thank you.

    Hi

I play in both an 80’s & Punk band. Both are loud and I’ve never even thought about feedback and I've experienced none whatsoever

I run mine through 2 TC Electronic RS112’s with an RH750 head

Its a fantastic bass so just go for it 👍

Mike, the 500 fan will activate after the amp has been driven a bit. Light noodling will not make it activate'. Hope this is clear enough?

Thanks Snorkie that makes sense and is really helpful :)

Download the manual. It may have a thermal switch.

    C. Protection Features The Tone Hammer 500 is equipped with several protection circuits designed to prevent any damage to the amplifier in cases where the limits of the normal operating range are breached. Protections include an over current, an over temperature, DC, and HF detectors. If any of these circuits are triggered, the amplifier will either limit its output power, or shut down. In case of a shut down the amplifier will rapidly try to restart, checking if the faulty condition is still present. In case of shut down, both Operate and Status lights will turn off.

  6. Hi everyone. I've just acquired a pre owned TH500 and I'm just enquiring if anyone knows how the onboard fan operates

When I switch the amp on the fan does not operate. I've not played it properly yet and it may come on after a period of time

Does this appear to be the correct way it would run or would it come on when switched on and stay on?

    Thanks

    Mike

  7. A really well looked after TC Electronic RH750

If your searching for one then you know that these are great amps

          •    750 watts into 4 ohms
          •    3 Memory Presets (Controllable via the RC4)
          •    Chromatic Bass Tuner (Controllable via the RC4)

    • 4 Band semi-parametric EQ

Big spec including SpectraComp and Tube Tone. I’ve attached the electronic manual https://mediadl.musictribe.com/download/software/tcelectronic/rh750-us-09-25-12.pdf

The sale does NOT include the cab in the pictures but does include the 4u soft case, the rack mount mains power supply and the RC4 foot pedal & Tuner which also has the long midi lead (Over £200 on Amazon) I’ve changed direction and no longer use it but it sounds mint and has lots of power

Also it's had it's large knobs replaced last year with spares available. It's well priced with

the accessories that are included so please don't send in silly offers 😉

Please get in touch with any questions and it’s collection only from North Bolton

    Thanks Mike

  8. Hi all

I'm just in the process of changing my bass head and I'm looking for guidance

I've just bought and returned an Ampeg Micro VR which looked fab and sounded good until you needed volume and then it failed. I had it running through 2 x TC RS112's at 4ohm but sadly it just didn't cut it. Anyway I'm now thinking to buy one of two listed above. I love the Ampeg sound but have an Ampeg Classic Analogue Pre Amp pedal so do I go for the PF350 or the BQ500 with the pre amp pedal connected as I believe that the pre amp in that is very similar the the Micro VR which did sound good........

I'm kinda thinking that the BQ may be a little cleaner so that I'm able to get what I want with pedals with less TC character or colour

The money is similar so it's a toss up between the 2

Answers on a post card lol

My train of thought with 2 out to 2 cabs V's amp > cab > cab is that they are both equal and the same BUT... if any one of your speaker leads fails when using the 2 out option, you'd still have 1 cab in operation and a song/gig wouldn't need to stop while you sort it.  Whereas if cable (A) from amp > cab (1) failed, you'd be in silence while you sorted it.  Of course if you are using a full valve amp you could have a cooked amp either way if the cable fails.  :)

    Does that make sense?

    It does and thanks :)

  10. Hi everyone... I have two TC Electronic RS112 cabs which I love and I use an RH750 with these. I have however recently run my Trace Eliiot Elf through them and was blown away with the volume that I had and probably only on No 3-5 on the master. I love the Ampeg sound and was considering getting a Micro VR and was looking for thoughts on how this would sit with my cabs. I'm thinking it will be quite loud with the two running at 4ohm which would save me buying an SVT3Pro and running that on a third volume setting

I've had a PF350 and never really loved its looks and VR looks pretty cool to be fair

One last question.... Would I connect them both separately to the two outputs on the VR or run one out and into the first 112 and then again out of the 1st and then into the 2nd????

  11. Hi everyone

I'm needing a little guidance to get my pedals in the correct order and listed below is what I'm looking to add to my board

    Tuner (This is obvious)

TC Electronic Nova Drive - Overdrive/distortion

    EHX Bass Clone - Chorus

    Ampeg Classic - Pre amp

    Boss - SYB5 Bass Synth

    Any thoughts on this

    Thanks Mike

Hey Mike, I vaguely remember a couple of similar threads on this very subject. If you have a quick search something should come up. 👍

In the meantime.....I'm using SetListHelper Website which you can get for either Android (Google Play Android version) or Apple (you didn't mention which you were looking for). I'm using the free version and you don't need an account. You can store songs on it in a variety of formats. I use .pdf so if SetListHelper stops working / updating software etc I still have readable copies of the tracks. You store each track individually and then include them in set lists as required. I have a number of setlists depending on the gig / band  I'm playing with.

Hardware wise I'm using an old Samsung 10" screen tab which is held on my mic stand by an iKlip Holder which is pretty robust and flexible in its orientation. I dont use a foot controller so cant comment on them sorry. Hope this helps.

    Thank you :)

  13. Hi Everyone

I'm getting old and have been using an A4 binder with all of our song notes on a music stand (Not cool I know) to use whilst playing

I'm thinking of getting a tablet that I can add all of my stuff to (In set list order) which I can then attach to my mic stand. I'm also in need of a foot controller

so that I can flick back and forth whilst playing....... Any thoughts, advice or recommendations?

    Thanks in advance Mike
