  2. Thanks Lozz. That's interesting. I do feel loyalty to Ashdown as I really like how they do stuff plus customer service as we know is top notch. Not that iv ever had one of their amps fail 🙂. Ideally I'd try in a shop but tricky to know when that mayb possible. Thx

  3. Hi I'm thinking of buying a new head. It's  a toss up for me between the newer Orange Terror with the clean switch or the ABM 600 head. I'm sure both are fantastic.

I've seen folks talking on old threads here about the Orange Terror but that was the older model without the clean switch. A friend of mine let me borrow that same version recently and whilst it's a really cool amp,  it starts to go into overdrive, even with the gain down low, and it was just a bit too much for me and I couldn't get a nice clean sound. I tend to add FX to a clean ish tone.

I've had an ABM 500 in the past so know what to expect from an ashdown and only downside of the ABM is it's a bit heavier.... but nothing back breaking.

So, is anyone out there a user of the newer Terror Bass with the clean switch. Any feedback on it? One demo on YouTube shows it delivering some fantastic sounds both clean and overdriven and I really liked what I heard. Thanks in advance

  4. Selling my L2000 Tribute. Always wanted one of these since I saw Martyn le Noble playing the more expensive version.

Plenty of demos of this bass on YouTube. Loads of varied sounds on tap but I've realised over the last year I'm obviously a bit of a simpleton, and prefer basses I can just wack the dials on full and play. Despite all the variations the pickups give you, I seem to be endlessly fiddling and adjusting my sound rather than just enjoying it and settling on one that works in my band. Never mind. .......my problem.

Its a shame cause I love the neck on this bass. It's quite chunky, but with a great satin finish. Hardware is great for the price esp the bridge. Only change I will be making before selling is refitting the strap buttons it came with.

I bought this as B stock so one picture shows the ding the bass had when it turned up at PMT prior to shipping to me.  It's not remotely sharp or dangerous and actually quite smooth to the touch. A bit of the lacquer has chipped off but it's in the position of you forearm and mostly against your belly when playing and not a problem or noticeable in any way.

Weight exactly 4 kg on our scales.

UK shipping fine at buyers expense and risk. I have a good quality bass box it can be packed in. No problems.

Collection in line with social distance rules fine too.

Not really up for trades at the moment.1690305566_IMG_20201230_1436002.thumb.jpg.ef8b6ddd9056119dc5cbc6f6347147b8.jpg

  5. P pickups liberated from two different Japanese P basses. Set on the left from an early 80s Fernandes P Bass. Quite high output. No idea of brand.

Right hand set from a Greco Spacey sound. The bass itself was built in 1980 at fujigen factory but again I have no clue on pickup origin. Some folks out there I'm sure will know.

Both appear to be original based on the wiring when swapped out.

    £15 per set posted

  6. Not sure if anyone can help. A friend of mine helped me fit a P and a J of the entwistles today. They sound fantastic....amazed at how much of an Improvement they are. Obviously my stock pickups weren't up to much esp the J. Quick technical question though..... When we were fitting them..... the magnets came off the P pickup and we didn't pay too much attention to how we reattached them. After fitting and testing the d and g string sound amazing on the P pickup but the E and A are much quieter. Is that possibly to do with us reattaching the magnets the wrong way? Thanks. Sorry if this is a stupid question.

  7. Hi all

I'm mulling over buying a bass with PJ pick ups. I've not got a huge budget but the ones I'm drawn to are the Fender Aerodyne and the G&L SB 2 Tribute. I read both are great basses.

So just wondering what the thoughts are of folks out there that have played either/ both.

Overall the SB2 seems to more reasonably priced and easier to get hold of at the moment but that's not a deal breaker. Thanks all
