Your question is good, I think it's more a personal preference and taste than a question of genre or style.  

If I have to record a bass line for a track, I used to make it with a JB and this Modern as well,  and the customer/engineer/producer decide which sound would be preferred. Sometimes I choose one of them directly when I'm sure which one will be suit for the actual song (last time f.e. used the JB for a RHCP style song)

Lovely piece, never saw this earlier...   I have a similar hollowbody bass called Frudua Realbass, 5 str version.  Love this kinda sound of "semi bass guit, semi double bass"...

Nice candy...  I saw a similar one  here, from a suberb Polish bass guy not so long ago.

This is a dream bass, we know, out of range for most of us but definitely have its main market, overseas... it would be gone quickly there..

I think they'd used Seymour design at that time - but not sure either. Nordstrand came later If I remember well.
