The quality is really something. This bass was made before Clover changed their company from a small business to a huge brand, I don't know if the quality standarts remained the same (I hope so) and I never played one "new Clover" but I can tell that this one of the best basses I played so far. The only thing I don't really understand is the preamp but hey, nobody's perfect.

Hi! Today I bought this beautiful bass and it is a dream! When I saw the Flamed Maple on the top I just fell in love then I looked on back and I figured out that the body is all made of the same wood. Nice touch from the luthiers of Clover. I think it was made in 1994, carbon fiber neck, bartolini pickups and preamp (BTW the preamp is a TCT 3 band with active/passive switch), matching headstock and a nice bridge Status like. Overall, this huge bass (36" it's pretty large for me) has a fantastic sound and construction. Pros: - beautiful flamed maple on the body - the pickups are awesome - very confortable to play (the neck doesn't dive and for me that's a must) Cons: - it's a bit heavy (4,8 Kg) - 36" scale (for me it's a challenge because I have to learn how to play this thing but still, I'm very happy) - the preamp is boost only and there is a big diference of volume when you switch to passive (in passive mode the volume increases a lot) I just wanted to share my happiness. If you have any questions or suggestions be my guest. Cheers

Thanks for the reply FlatEric. I know that these basses are pretty rare. But I think that I will change the preamp anyway. The OBP3 is one thing that can get out and install it on other bass in half an hour besides I want to take pictures and keep all the original parts for reassembly in the future. I found this wiring on Seymour Duncan website and Now I understand how the wiring of the active pickups is done. http://www.seymourduncan.com/support/wiring-diagrams/schematics.php?schematic=active_soapbar The only thing I can't understand is if it's possible to use one battery for all (PU's and preamp).

thanks for the reply! The bass is definitely passive but the pickups not and that's why there is a battery compartment on the back. The sound is amazing and the pickups are great but the controls are like the concentric pots on a Jazz Bass 62 RI. I've been reading some reviews and tutorials and for EMG is possible to run a preamp and pickups with only one battery. In my case the wiring of the active pickups confuses me...

Oops... I think I posted this topic in the wrong section. Anyone got any idea?

I just found this wiring diagram and it would be perfect for me. http://www.bestbassgear.com/wiring-diagrams/vpp-bl-tbstack-m-msw.pdf What about the active pickups connection? It's got to be like in this wiring or there is anything different?

Hello, I have the possibility to trade my Warwick FNA to an Ibanez MC 924 and since it's not the active version, I would to know I can install an Aguilar OBP 3 on the bass. This is the bass: It has two volume knobs and two tone knobs. The only thing I'm not sure about is that the pickups are active (if I'm well informed are EMG). I was thinking about having a master volume, balance, concertic knob for bass / treble, mids and the switch for the mids freq. Any help would be great! Thanks!

Highly recommended dealer! Very patient (the bank transfer took a while to be cleared) and very honest. I bought the G Lab Wah from him and the pedal is in mint condition. The package was well done. Thanks Graeme!!!
Call Mark at Bassdirect and find out if you can add the HD210 cab. I think these cabs are very similar and might work well together. You are already half way to a modular 410 which is your best option in my opinion.
I know that would be a nice combination but in this moment I can't afford a new cab. The new HD series looks very nice! All PM replied! Thanks to all for looking.

Last night I played a Lakland with a Aguilar OBP3 and I decided to buy it! Thanks for all the answers.

You have a point! You can send your bass to a luthier to get the job done. I bet that it's not that expensive. I have been playing with this bass for 10 years and now I ask me why I didn't reshaped the neck before...
Great job on the neck! I would never dare to do that by my own hands. Always wondered what a slim neck on a Warwick would feel like.
Just great!!! eheh The nicest thing is that you have the neck the way you like it! I dare you to do the same. Trust me, it's not that hard!

I've been reading some info about Aguilar, John East and other preamps. The thing is that the Aguilar OBP3 has always maximum rating on reviews and the price is lower than the U-Retro 01 Deluxe. I have also found some good reviews about Glockenklang and ACG preamps. At this point, I don't really know wich I'm going to choose... LOL I prefer a preamp that is simple to dial a nice sound, almost plug-and-play. Any thoughts for the straplock position? In the first pic it's visible were I've tried it but no good results. Thanks for the inputs!

Neck: Liposuction concluded!!! Neck profile (before) Neck profile (after) The neck it's really much better now! It feels so confortable. I was surprised with the results! Any comment, idea, opinion or suggestion would be great!

Hello guys! I've been watching your projects for a long time and now it's my turn to do some DIY stuff. I have a Warwick FNA 5 that I bought 10 years ago but I'm not happy with it so I hardly play it. I watched some videos, read some tutorials and now I'm starting to do something with my bass. Mods List: 1 - Neck: The shape of the neck seems like a baseball bat and it's really unconfortable. I will round the edges of the neck to make it confortable to play. 2 - Refinish: I will strip off the laquer and the paint and I will paint it with blue Dye (just like these one http://www.sadowsky....l/4639_full.jpg ) 3 - Routing for a J Bass Pickup on the neck: I will use a Seymour Duncan SJB 5 4 - Change the whole electronics: I will buy a Aguilar OBP3, change the wiring to have the possibility to split the MM pickup. The knobs will work in this way: 1st Vol, 2nd Pan, 3rd Mid, 4th Bass/Treble, 1st Mini Switch dpdt On/On/On for the Split Coil, 2nd Mini Switch dpdt On/On for the Mid Select,3rd Mini Switch dpdt On/On for Active/Passive. 5 - Find the right spot to install the straplock: the bass have too much neck dive!!! Hi there! I want to trade my Mighty Mite Maple J Bass neck for a nice Jazz Bass neck (rosewood fingerboard). The nut is a Graphtech Tusq just like this one (http://www.graphtech.../product-104-2/). Unfortunately, there are two "set" of holes for the tuners (one for the stock tuners from a Squier CV Jazz Bass and the other are for the Hipshot HB2 tuners). The frets where leveled by a local luthier and the action is very low. Tuners NOT included. After months of playing my bass, I figured out that maple fingerboards are not my thing. I just prefer the deeper sound of rosewood. So, if there is anybody who is interested to have my bass neck, just show me your rosewood fingerboard neck. I want to trade the neck, so, definitely not for sale.

I had "problems" too with Mightymite J Bass neck just like Tazza1. The frets were poorly finished, sharp in some spots, a few frets were higher than others. To be honest, I was a little dissapointed with the neck. It is more thick that the one I replaced and the frets... Bought mine brand new so I was expecting a bit more. The nice thing is that he fits my bass like a glove. The nut is plastic (yes! plastic!) so IMHO it must be replaced ASAP.
