I think the black one would look pretty smart if you put a black scratchplate on it, or a plexi see through one, or just take off the white one and leave it off.

  2.
But then again, that body is routed for the Darkstars so might be hard to shift without the pickups. I'm not desparate for cash just yet so am happy for it to sit here for a while rather than put it on eBay!
I bet if you put it on ebay with worldwide shipping you'd get a lot of interest from across the pond

  3.
Got a couple of questions. Firstly, I have read good things about Vester quitars, has anyone played one of these? Second, is paint removal from a Bubinga body really a sensible option?
Given its a home made paint job I would think it depends on how he's finished it, I would think if you were to strip it back to wood you can kiss goodbye to the dark stain finish these usually have, you'd probbably have to restain it yourself, but I think it looks quite funky as it is!

  4.
The bass is in very good condition and plays amazingly.
I have done lots of recording sessions with this bass and it always stands perfectly in the mix of any musical style.

I am asking for 550 GBP. The bass comes with a Ritter gig bag.

Collection preferred, but delivery can be arranged if required.
I am based in west London.
you can bump your original sale add to the top, saves the need for writing the same ad over and over

  5.
In all honesty, you may find it cheaper to buy a ‘real’ Streamer LX 2nd hand than to buy a RockBass Streamer LX and change the neck on it…
Well the thing is I have a warwick neck already, I was going to buy the rockbass swap out the body and sell the neck on ebay, so saying that I would buy the rockbass for about £275, sell the neck and hopefully get around £50 for it with all hardware so total spend would be about £225

  6. with a different pre in it can you still replicate fieldys signature click boom type sound, is it still possible to completely scoop out the mids? I thought there was some sort special doohickey type gizmo in the stock pre that did this

  7.
I should also mention it comes with straplocks and a leather strap!
Now if a leather strap doesnt sell it I dont know what will! Stunning bass you have there mate thats a really nice one, sure you want to get rid? I cant see a looker like this hanging around for long, especially when fitted with darkstars!

  8.
I've got a 4H Stingray, which I love dearly, and I can get most any sound out of it, except the one I want. I've tried flats, but they lacked a little high end definition.

Currently it has what I think are the factory strings on, which sound good but they are missing a little oomph.

Will putting heavier rounds ok swap a bit of brightness without sacrificing clarity for some oomph or do I need pressure wounds or something else?

What do you stingray stingray dudes use?
Maybe just try a different brand of strings? or perhaps its just time for a fresh new pack of round wounds, try the flea signature boomers,

  9. Im very tempted but cant really justify it,

  10. Given the reputationof Rickenbacker threatening ebay because people were selling obscure vintage copies, Im not sure how shine have pulled this one off, seems to have decent pups too, perhaps shine are beggining to step things up a gear in terms of what they're producing nowdays

  11.
You can read Made In Japan on the heel on his Ebay pics. Can't quite get my head around this - does he seriously believe these basses are worth what he's asking or is it just the hope/assumption that someone, somewhere will be stupid enough to pay those prices?

    J.
I think its the latter

  12. In a word, they are good, the ash ones sound bright and airy, the bubinga bodied ones are heavy as tanks and have more of a harsh sound and the necks are big and chunky but with a jazz like profile when it comes to string spacing, the double buck is as versatile a bass as you can get and they're light and balance nicely, of all the basses ive owned, the active corvette bubinga got the most compliments in regards to sound. Oh yeah and they sound great when it comes to slap bass.

A Warwick Corvette Standard Active, Bubunga body. Up to £510 already?

I've seen Corvettes in various incarnations going from £280 to £370 in the last few months. This is the Ovangkol necked version too, after the more desirable Wenge ones. His reserve is £600, i have the Ash-bodied 4 string version of this and i paid £598 for that new!

A bit gutted cos i should be in the market for a Warwick sometime this year!
I have noticed that warwicks are beggining to become "popular" again and that their prices are slightly on the rise, not sure if they ever lost trend in the states though
