It appears that I can't stop listening to Vulfpeck. I mean, it's super funky and great and I'm into playing the funk style myself, but I am starting to have difficulty listening to anything else! Every day when I'm practicing my theory (I've picked up the bass again after a very long hiatus), once I'm done, I immediately get a couple of Joe Dart's lines playing and jam along. Then the inevitable bit where he seems to turn into superman happens, and I just sit and listen. Out of interest, as I'm completely new to this site, what similar bands to Vulfpeck's style could anyone recommend? I'd love to hear them (and finally break this addictive loop )

I've just read this entire thread - very entertaining from start to finish I've only ever played a couple of gigs and that was a long time ago, and it was the 2nd song during the 1st gig that I absolutely messed up. First song was Longpigs song that starts with the bass. Since this was my first ever gig, I was practically wetting myself anyway, but I managed to play the entire song without a mistake. I was well chuffed. In fact, I was that chuffed that I completely zoned out after the song, missed the intro to the 2nd song, ended up playing god knows what to try and get back on track and it took what felt like to me, forever to get back in line again. I still cringe when I think of it now ! Lead guitarist and singer came over after that song and said, "What the bloody hell are you playing at", and then HE missed the intro to the next song, haha Practically a carry on film.

Hi all, Just registered on the site so saying hello as an introduction Used to play (simple) bass in a band a loooong time ago. I can't even remember how long. Let's go with 20 years. Anyway, i moved on and the bass playing kind of fell by the wayside. Well, it did until recently where I've been getting back into music again. I like to dabble in a few musical areas including rhythm and percussion in general, but I love settling back on the bass again after all this time. I've recently been slowly getting back into it with a cheap 3/4 squire bass that's been knocked about a bit, but when I started to get back into it I thought I'd get something new, so I picked up a Ibanez GSR180 GIO 4 string, and am using it with a Subzero SZB825 25W bass amp, and I'm practically in love with it I like to play standard light rock stuff and absolutely love funk (Joe Dart, Vulfpeck \o/) but generally will play anything for fun! Based in the North West of the UK, about 20 minutes from Manchester. /waves
