Hi all, joined only a week or so ago but omitted to describe my gear and musical tastes. So, I have been trying to master the bass for 5-6 years and in this time experimented with all sorts of permutations looking for "that sound" and have finally settled on Genz Benz Streamliner 600 married to Genz Benz shuttle 2x10 and 1x12. My basses at present are SX jazz bass and SX P bass which for the money are pleasing to my ears and versatile enough to cover most genres. My musical tastes span the decades, when I was playing sax and clarinet I was into the modern standards swing and jazz. Since picking up the bass I have been more cavalier in my approach and get enjoyment from from anything that " ROCKS" covering a wide spectrum rock, indie, punk. Band currently without a drummer

I was doing some business with The Greek recently and he suggested I join BC. Takes a while to get acquainted with new sites but getting the hang of it a wee bit. What forums do you recommend.

I can't play reed instruments cos my teeth gave up on me lol.

Hi new member here, as yet not a clue how the site works so hoping this goes out. How did I end up playing bass, well the story is 6 years ago I was playing sax and clarinet. Went to a local open mike night and rarely got an invite to play. Each week the organiser says we'll have a bass player next week, each week bass no show. So I go and buy me a bass learn Brown Sugar, turn up following week bass in tow, and when they played their usual Brown Sugar I was up, and the rest is History.
