  1. This is excess to my needs it comes loaded with a pair of Faital  15PR400 and sounds absolutely massive whilst still being an easy single person lift.

Has tilt back castors to make easier to move around. Had light marks from amp feet on top which should clean up with some elbow grease.

    Made originally by tricky audio

    comes with a soft cover!
Price drop to 500 as I need the space!

    Collection only from Sheffield

Yes, and price is not an indication of how good a pup will found. I had a Fralin (two over the years) but never kept them longer than a few months. Each time i went back to a much cheaper pup like the 62RI.

I am quite partial to the SD DP122, which i have in my Squier CV P, but its a bit too aggressive to use all the time.

Indeed, theres only so many ways you can wind a pick up really.

  3. I Think i'm gonna take a punt on it and make a new body for it, hopefully the neck route wont be to much of a ball ache.

I also play in a# so i'm wondering if it's going to be under to much tension or not

OK - so what's the advantage of an Alu neck? Yes you could make a truss that is light and stiff, but the thermal expansion is way higher than wood, so surely the thing will need constant retuning?

They have a different sound, Also needing to retune going from hot to cold isn't any worse than wood. Basically it's just a different sound, no better or worse

True, cheap ones are much fewer and far between than they used to be, although I still think they're one of the more affordable vintage marques that are also actually good

If this one doesn't go much above start bid price (which I doubt it will) it could be worth putting a R/H body on it.  Strange bridge though! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Cramer-Custom-Bass-Guitar-L-H-Strung-R-H/293087580917?hash=item443d6192f5:g:8~0AAOSwfRhc0H88&frcectupt=true

ooh, thanks for the heads up, what are the scale lengths on these? I wonder if it'll fit a fender body haha

    Trace Elliot V6 owner here.

Pros: tone for days, loud as hell, heft by the buckets.

Cons: re-valve costs which can run into the hundreds, needing to be careful with speaker inputs (mine works 4 ohms and 2 ohms, so I'm not risking an 8 ohm loud), the fear for something just going wrong at a gig, heavy (mine isn't SVT heavy but it is too heavy for the one carry handle it has!), limited EQ (on this Trace, the passive EQ takes a while to operate, particularly with an active bass).

An Ampeg SVT though is an absolute classic of an amp. What model did you get?

At the moment I am torn between getting another all valve head or going the 'modern' route of getting either the new Mesa WD800 or a Darkglass Alpha Omega 900. My concern though is that now matter how clever modern designs are, nothing beats just waiting for your valve amp to heat up, flicking the standby switch and just playing a low E (or better, a low B) at high volume.

    i wish i still had my v6

  7. Well I'd be interested in buying it if you're thinking of selling it. If you're willing to wait and get it fully serviced etc. you'll get around 600 - 800 for it depending on how lucky you get

I'm hanging on to the Melos, it's just not coming out for gigs.  I have two of them, one I was using and another tucked away waiting for me to refurbish it if I ever get around to it, both the silver-fronted cartridge based model.

fair enough, they're great when they work
