Anybody has experience with Haeussel single coils? I am guessing they are vintage sounding but would like know what users think. What other single coil PUs you had/have experience with and how do Haeussels compare?
No first hand experience but when I was in the process of ordering my bass I asked Adrian about the difference between Haussesls and Maruszczyk pickups, he told me his pickups are a bit more crunchy/dirty and also have a higher output...I went with his :)

    - Custom neck to my Fender Geddy specs
    - Vintage style bridge and knobs
    - Large Hipshot Ultralite tuners
    - Also ready for PJ configuration, with solderless wiring harness...will post photo soon :)

  3. I run the Bass Players Market UK and I can tell you, since we started, I have only been contacted once to report a problem on a sale/purchase, all came down to a misunderstanding and it was resolved very quickly.
If it's in this group it might be worth joining the Bass Players Market UK Feedback Group as the seller might have feedback in there.

As always, take as many precautions as you can: try to collect in person, find someone that can collect it for you, get an address and landline number...and you should be fine.

It's over a minute!! Stone Him!!!!

Nice to get more noodlers in, welcome!!

I liked it. The run at 0.17 secs of A - B - C into your harmonics is very "portrait of tracey".
I dont mean that in a bad way. Cool piece. I liked it.

Thanks, glad you liked it :)

    Lovely... very summery :)

Tarantino esq... is that the new jazz?

I have to be honest, I had to check I hadn't played the same track twice with these two!

Nice harmonic based stuff, good clean playing too, notes ringing out clear and true :)

Hearing the similarity reminds me we should have had some sort of theme for these noodles each month, something to judge them against each other a bit easier... harmonics, chords, pick playing, slap :o etc.
Thanks for your feedback.

Not sure on the idea of having to use particular playing techniques

  5. ...And here it is my first noodle entry!

    https://soundcloud.c...oodle-1/s-VSGmO

Recorded direct into Mixcraft, I added bit of chorus and Tube EQ and that's the final result...hope you guys like my "Harmonic Noodle"

Cheers Chris! Thomann doesn't stock the GHS in a light gauge so I'm probably going to go either labella FL or D'addario Chromes in Super Light (40-95, might be too light!)
Not sure how they compare to the FS set but I went with the FLs and I find the tension a bit too much for me, specially the E string on the first frets. String bending is hard work too.

I've probably gone through about 20 cabs in the last 10 years. It was so bad at times that my band would take the piss asking what cab I'd turn up with at each gig. They were either great but too heavy or light but too thin sounding.

I recently took the plunge and bought a Super Twin by Barefaced and absolutely love it. I can now see what all the fuss is about. It's massive sounding, with cracking tone and punch and I can pick it up with two fingers.

Suffice to say, I'll not be in the market for another cab until this one either breaks or gets stolen! They are that good I promise you, genius!
It is a great cab! Portability, lots of power and punch, and great tone...works great for me.
I've had my SuperTwin since they were released and my Cab GAS completely disappeared too.

  8. A while ago, a fellow Basschatter helped me big time. The pedal I wanted was in the North and it was expensive, I sent him the money, he checked it and bought it, then posted it to me.

I believe more people on the forum have been helped in a similar way so yes, it could work.

My last one was a PES35, I think.

    Mine was the PES35 aswell
Great, thanks!

Are they suede type of fabric on the back? All leather ones I've had in the past tend to slip a bit.

    thank you!

I used Natwest the two times I needed it... next time it'll be Transferwise :)
No worries!
It's so easy to do and cheaper than any banks: better exchange rate and lower transfer fee
I've just transferred my payment to Adrian using these. Wow.. so quick and cheap. Thanks for the heads-up!
You beat me! I have just sent my deposit too!.... Now the wait begins :gas:

These guys offer very good conditions for money transfers, specially overseas transfers. I used them when sending money to US
    Hope that's in help
    :-)
Yes, I've had a look around and they are the cheapest.

An IBAN transfer directly through my bank is £4, and the money lands in Adrian's account within 24 hours.

Use a currency transfer service such as Currency Change. You get a guaranteed rate of exchange and no charges as it's a BACS transfer to CC. Will be with the recipient in a matter of hours.
I played a couple off against each other for a Euro payment to get the best rate.
Thanks guys!

I have just checked with Transferwise and their fee will be about £2.40, it also offers a better exchange rate.
Natwest charges £10 for the transfer and worst exchange rate too.

I will check later with CurrencyChange too.

As far as I know by default the Elwood's have a thicker neck than your average Fender Jazz. The nut width is 40mm compared to a Fender Jazz 38mm.

That said there have been lots of different jazz necks over the years. The Geddy Lee has a very thin neck, I think it's 19mm at the 1st fret.

I've got a custom Elwood build in progress at the moment and I've specified the neck dimensions myself.

If you know what you want Adrian can build it (as long as it's not ridiculous!).

My Elwood 5 has a neck, very much like a Lakland 55-02. Its nothing like a Fender 5 string Jazz neck.
Thanks guys!

I have spoken to Adrian and I'm going for a custom neck, matching the one on my Geddy bass.... For the price of the bass it would be silly not to!

    Ask Adrian.

My first Maruszczyk was pretty stock, except for the neck, which I specified the dimensions of (wider and thicker than stock) and lacquered. I don't think it was that much more expensive than stock and probably just because of the lacquer... Ask him, you may be pleasantly surprised.
Gracias Jose!...I'll ask Adrian

Just wanted to know how their necks compare to standard Fender Jazzes or the Geddy Lee in case the difference is substantial :)
