So basically since I stopped having lessons I've stopped pushing myself and have pretty much become a lazy slob. I used to be willing to play almost anything, that's not to say I could play almost anything (far from it) but at least I'd try. But ever since, I'll find something I can't play and I'll just give up - and it's been really annoying me. Without going on a personal slating I find that I always get to a certain level (in anything, sport, music etc.) and then it's like I hit a wall and can't progress any further, no matter what I do. So basically this is a plea to anyone for some suggestions. I would really love to get back into playing bass again as I would give anything to be playing on a professional level (for the music, not the money) but simply don't have the motivation. I am mostly into all things heavy but when it comes to bass pretty much anything goes. So if anyone has any suggestions on what to do then that would be greatly appreciated. Cheers guys

[quote]That was my problem with the song so i gave up on it, very similer hammer ons in the solo of Naked in the rain too.[/quote] It's the extra 2-4 on the first one that throws me, but I find that if you don't pulloff then somehow I can play it D: I always find chilis refreshing to play because the basslines are original and change throughout the song (although it makes it an arse to learn in a hurry)

Around the World is a great song and the bassline is fairly easy but damn good all the same. I sometimes muck up with the timing of the hammerons at the start, but apart from that it's fine.

Hey all, I've been a sneaky watcher of this forum for a while, but I thought it was time I may as well make an appearance. I'm 16 and have been playing bass for just over two years - god how I love it so much I only started listening to music a year or so before then and have developed a heavy taste for metal Before then I was classically trained at piano since I was about 7, so that helped a lot because all the theory etc. was already there. Anyways, I started off with a Squier J-Bass with that good old Rumble 15 (although I wouldn't be surprised if it's deceased to around 7 watts now :S ) and bought a Epiphone Embassy V several months back - both of which I love playing. So yeah, that's about it I guess x) Regards, Mike

I basically started out with a little Fender Rumble 15 which was perfect for practice at home, but now as I move on to playing in a band I find that it is somewhat useless. It distorts a lot at full volume, which still isn't sufficient enough to be heard over the other guitar and drums. I am looking for another amp which will allow me to be heard (like all bassists deserve ) and will also be sufficient for small gigs. My problem is that I don't have much of an understanding in the area of amps etc. The combo amps that I looked at were mostly 300W (is this overkill for my uses) and were too expensive for me (I'm looking for something sub £400). If I were to go for a stack amp would I need two cabs and a head or would a single cab and a head work ok? We play metal so I am looking for a fairly brutal tone. Any help would be appreciated on this Regards, Mike
